Took these at the w/e & was a wondering if anyone out there might know what type of orchid these (four) are?

Curious. Would be really nice to know... :)

Thanks!

At least you've got blooms to help you, heh. I have two orchids that were given to me a little over a year ago by a friend. He said he found them as clippings on the greenhouse floor at the local community college. They both have had new growth and seem to be very happy. Sadly though, they've yet to bloom. It's killing me to find out what they are!

Apparently over 300 new types are discovered each year! So not an easy job find out exactly which ones are which :)

Fixed the thumbs for easier viewing. My initial reaction was that these were "dendrobiums"....but I'm no botanist.

Where did you take the pics?

A type of Dendrobium was my initial thought too. I know that white one is probably the most domesticated orchid around, but for some dumb reason I can't find it.

Kew Gardens is great!

Phalaenopsis are quite cheap and reasonably easy to keep at home too - well, mine last for a few weeks until I kill them.

It takes talent to kill those, heh. All you have to do is mist it every few days with water containing orchid food and keep the orchid in a window.

Yep - apparently watering them once a month or so is not enough.

I'm with Matthew. If a plant doesn't thrive on neglect, it's a lost cause. Then, of course, I live in the desert. ;-)
