Honestly youe New Best should have been your worst and your new worst maybe 3/4 of the way to your best!

My opinion I like the second shot a little blurred. The New Best is kinda boring but i do like clouds anyways.

Heh my personal best was shot with a camera phone.

No, they placed correctly. The FTF shot is a horribly disorganized composition. I think you, as the photographer, know what you were going to convey, but the picture only captures your interest (well, and Jeff's :P ) Edit: You have to convey it to others if you want others to see and feel the scene as you did.

Your commenters were right, and you should mark them helpful, for helpful they have been. This picture is sheer chaos to the brain, and chaos speaks only to a select crowd.

I wasn't complaining - just thought it was funny - both on the same day

I find the pigeons far more interesting and original.

From what I have seen, the following does well:
Simple composition showing 1 or 2 subjects
Clarity
Sharpness
Simple backgrounds
Beauty - entices people to spend more time on your image
Original subject ideas

What does NOT do well:
Effects
Grain
Confused, over complex composition
Ornate borders
Controversial subjects
Images that stray from the letter of the challenge topic AND description

Sorry - just butting in here: saw my Best Beloved's (craigester) name come up on the forum. He's at the office and should be working hard:

This is a very insightful breakdown. I do like your tank farm - would just quibble about the un-horizontal horizon... I like its depth of colour and it really does meet the challenge. This week I've been up to a personal best at 7.1 and am sitting verrrry close to a personal worst in Personification at 4.2. Hey it happens ... :-)
