4.8 and one comment saying she loves it and a fave.
shouldn't everyone write a comment when she or he gives me 1-2-3?
so where are the comments? :)
I don't understand people giving low scores and being afraid of showing their faces and explaining.

95 votes and only 1 comment? Common - throw me a bone!

Maybe DPC could improve the html code on the voting pages so that a score of 3 or below must add a comment or it won't accept the vote.
Checkboxes or radio buttons for common reasons to be ticked off, in addition to the text entry box would be nice. Where's the site suggestion box?

Thing about that is, if people are voting with limited time (like a business to run and a one-year-old to chase around and a husband who works 60+ hours a week and a major house remodel!)... then is it better for them to not vote at all? Or vote honestly and not leave a comment?

Mine's doing a lot better than I thought it would, but it has dropped a bit today. Still, just over 6 is okay with me. ;-)

I think a warning does come up if you vote and image 1 2 or 3 without leaving a message.

...but you can click through the warning and move right on to voting others

I tend to vote first, then go back and leave messages for the ones that have stood out to me, either in a good way or a bad way. If I had time I would leave comments for everyone. Perhaps the people that have left you such low scores will be back to tell you why...........hopefully.

ps. it wasn't me...........honest.........I've not scored anything below a 5 in this challenge as they are all vastly superior to my effort.

Okay, here's my attempt to get this thread back on topic.
Really, there are plenty of threads disucssing low voters and how they should or should not behave, lets please keep that discussion to those threads and keep this thread for talking about the current challenge.

I was so hopefully yesterday that I would break the 6. mark......then today I see that I've dropped down to at 5.8 again. :_)

I didn't see if this was mentioned before but I am having a hard time believing that a lot of these were taken with the camera sitting on a table. I am really having a hard time voting for this challenge.

Don't breathe....I'm not a 6.0.....oh happy feet!!!

Yep I'm having that problem too: while in all honesty the camera might have been sitting on a table, I do think it should be evident. I have to ask myself: if I didn't read the challenge topic, would I know what the challenge was about just by looking at the photo. If I can't see evidence that the camera was standing on a table at the time of shooting, then I must assume it wasn't. Not wanting to get into a wrangle as the Wildlifer's have done about "natural environments vs natural-seeming environments", the challenge topic exists to challenge us to go about shooting with those specific restrictions in mind.

You need to show us that the camera was on a table: to do this you need to (mostly) have some table in view... There are some instances where is looks as if the camera is on a tripod on a table...and I've let that slide, not wanting to be too pedantic. Tricky.

Mostly though I go with the gut instinct of whether or not the image grabs my attention and deserves a second look...that usually gets me to overlook criteria anyway :-) If I like a shot, I like it and it can slip by with a high vote if it vaguely meets the challenge.
