Calling all "Shallow DOF III" people! Maybe one of you (hidden during voting) made the following comment on my "Table Shot II"

"White balance is off and DOF is to shallow IMHO"

It's the table thingy!!! LOL now go back you guys and take off this comment or I shall give you all a 1 ;)

it wasn't my comment, but I don't think the commenter didn't know what he/she was commenting on. even in a table shot the DOF can be too shallow (as in ANY other shot)

I haven't submitted since the Dirt challenge because I received such a low score. I finally got motivated again and took what I thought to be a decent Shallow DOF. I am very happy with the shot and couldn't wait to wake up to see what my score is. Soooooo glad I didn't stay up to watch the voting. I feel crushed.

Oh well, I still like the shot and hope to frame it. At least I learned some new stuff.

Took a dive from early on - but with only 19 votes it is still early. But then maybe not with the FS going up tonight. Votes could become scarce real quick on this one.

ofcourse but it still needs to be shallow to be shallow, if you know what I mean

Yes, of course. But in some shots there is a limit to just how shallow it can be while still being tasteful.

Eh... wasn't expecting to fly high in this one.

This is just another one of those subjective challenges where everyone has their own opinion on just how shallow your DOF needs to be to meet the challenge.

I got a comment that just says "DOF?"

Nice comment! Thanks for nothing. I guess that commenter doesn't understand how to use DOF or at least not how I was using it. ;-)

Have to post this while it lasts, as I finally hit the elusive 6.5, if only for a few minutes :-)

Well some are liking it. Score creeped up a little. Not as good as the one who went from a 3 to 5.5. Got a very nice comment.

WooHoo it creeped up again in the past 7 minutes. I love the update button. Especially when the score goes up. Don't like much when the score goes down. Oh please keep going up because I feel this is one of my better shots.

Blissfully ignorant of my sub-5 score*, scores-off lets me live the dream of a 9.5886 ... aaaaahhhhh :)

*My one comment is quite nice though :)

i'm in this challenge and i'm a little annoyed ... seems to be a lot of shots that aren't shallow dof ... like if the background is 100 metres away and it's blurry, it's good enough.

my shot IS shallow dof ... and i've seen a lot of good true shallow DOF shots.

1 nice comment and the other DOF not verry shallow....I didnt think the contest was to see how small you can make your DOF but how to use it effectively and creatively. besides a DOF of 3-4 inches is to me pretty Shallow sure not a pin point but still.

Was not expecting this, especially not the FAVE :-))) This makes up for my very mediocre Fill the Frame entry. Nice to have a reason to *want* to update scores again.

Good morning!

I have climbed from the murky murky depths of 3.0000 to a slightly more palatable, and less murky, 5.0000.

So, my equipment is no longer for sell, but leasing may be an option. . . .
