thanks for your wonderful comment. that really cheers me up!

I made a start on commenting too, and trying to be a bit more detailed. hope it's appreciated :D

What I find interesting is that virtually all the pictures of females are presented as either sexy, erotic, beautiful, or otherwise pleasing to the eye, and the majority of the photos of males are presented as emotive, humiliating, "realistic", or otherwise not primarily pleasing to the eye for the sake of the form itself. I also suspect that more of the male photos are self-portraits than the female ones (though of course I don't know for sure). It indicates to me anyway that males aren't very comfortable with sensualizing the male form, or with making it look attractive. I guess I'm over-analyzing. :)

I tend to agree with you - the females, in general, looked more comfortable in their own skin than the males.

It's been there as long as I've been here, I think - last summer.

For those who don't know it, click on the little document icon just below the lower right corner of any entry.

Was just having this discussion!! - the negative emotions that arise in the male nudes such as shame, isolation, humiliation...all with faces turned away from the camera, is fascinating. A lot of female nudes also elected to have the face either not included, or turned away...but there really is a sense that male nudity is almost a more complex issue than female nudity. What a far cry from the classical sculptures of ancient times...it was all about the glorious male body then! What has modern society done to our men?

I love the exposure of baggy, saggy old flesh that has come up in this challenge...very brave and refreshing!

My shot is male, but if I had a female model I would have tried the exact same shot, in my entry I was experimenting more with perspective and lighting. I had seen something similar and wanted to see if I could figure out how they did it, and then add something of my own to it. But I do see what you are saying Louis.

Women in all forms are soft and curvy and nice. Men are mostly just excess hair and elbow skin :)

*snickers* I've made a most interesting observation.... The photos in the challenge already have about 3 times as many views than those in the Fill the Frame challenge....I wonder why that is....?

I have one simple observation to make with reference to the male - female nude debate.

I like female nudes more than male nudes.

There are some great shots of both in this challenge and I have voted accordingly, with no favoritism to either gender. But there are some that are almost tacky as well. I like subtle nudes, not in your face.

I also noticed that a couple of the females have some pubic hair visible. This is the year 2007 folks, isn't that considered unfashionable to sport such fur? ;-) (especially armpit hair, which I realize that in some cultures, is acceptable) :-O
