I SHALL BE GOING TO CANCUN NEXT WEEK , ANY PLACES I SHOULD HEAD FOR,
and is the camera equipment expensive out there.Compared to canon 100 to 400usm costing £1089.00 back home. |

The ruins of Tulum, the Pyramids of Chichen Itza, Koba...I don't think you'll find a store carrying the Canon 100-400 there. Cancun is just one big resort town...with bars and tourist traps...and beaches of course.

I will be going to Cancun in April and plan on shooting the ruins of Tulum. Anyone know if you would risk carrying your equipment 'off the beaten path'? Don't know what the crime rate is like in this area. I figured it would be safe on a tour but was questioning venturing off too far by myself. (probably won't) Hoping for some nice pics though. Appreciate any other photo tips for other Cancun hot-spots.

I would say that the cancun area is pretty safe. Lots of tourists there. The locals dont mess with the tourists because they know the income comes from tourism. Just be polite and respectful to the locals. I see too many tourists that treat the locals badly and talk down to them. |
