I have an absolutely wonderful recipe for a Brussels sprout casserole.

Brussels sprouts are an acquired taste. The vegetable requires tough love! To know them is to love them, these cabbage warts.

They are the devil's food!!
No - that would be Anchovies.

I'd rather blow a dead dog than eat an Anchovy.

Wow, do they blow up into party balloons? I like the Helium ones, they make your voice go squeaky!

Just to show you Brussels Sprouts uninitiates ... I bought a bunch of these cabbage family gems and am going to have them for dinner, steamed, with a little butter drizzeled over the top. That's it, you carnivores.

And for the record, Anchovy on a Ceasar Salad or on a Pizza is heaven to my senses.

Come on, JB. Another "acquired taste." I know your travels and I'm sure you've personally eaten dog ... but may not have recognized the slightly chicken-like flavor. "Hmm ... tastes like chicken."

Remember the movie Demolition Man. "This place smells like rats. Ya, I'm loving it." Another acquired taste.

I have traveled to a lot of places and ... dare I say ... eaten rat. Clearly an "acquired taste."

LOL!

So that is what got me so sick after dipping all those unidentifiable pieces of flesh into the hot pot!

I know the food is ALL edible where you are now and I can’t wait.

Now that I'm finished with my witticisms... I went out to lunch today - early lunch and had: tortilla chips with hothothot salsa, a shrimp and crab quesadilla with jalapeno jelly. I took half of that home. Just now I'm having tea with lemon and some darkdark chocolate.

A coffee
Glass of clementine juice
Fresh granary bread filled with salad, marinated Quorn pieces and lemon mayonnaise
Cashew nuts

And for my dinner later I'm having sweet potato and spinach korma with naan bread and pilau rice followed by syrup sponge pudding and custard

** If anyone is wondering how comes my food intake is always so high....it's coz I'm still breastfeeding and the weight has been falling off me!

10 shots of hammergel
A clif builder bar
Slimfast choc shake

Couple of 20oz beers
Big bowl of pasta for dinner, chocolate brownie for dessert

CHICKEN WITH CAPERS AND OLIVES

6 chicken thighs, skin on salt and pepper to taste
1 T olive oil
1/4 C dry white wine
1/2 C chopped ripe tomato
Pinch red pepper flakes
1/3 C oil-cured Italian olives, pitted
1 T drained capers
1 bay leaf
1/4 C chicken stock
1/2 C whipping cream or half and half

Season chicken with salt and pepper to taste. Heat frying pan and add the oil. Brown both sides and remove the chicken to a 4-6 qt stove top casserole. Add the remaining ingredients except the cream and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook gently for 40 min. Remove the chicken to a warm platter and add the cream to the casserole. Simmer the sauce 2-3 min. to reduce and thicken. Adjust salt and pepper to taste and pour the sauce over the chicken. Garnish with parsley.

I get 3 meals out of this!
