Hi All,
I have been asked to be a club photographer for a local Rugby club. I went down today to have a look at the minor leagues and though i might post a few shots i took

Please feel free to comment and leave feedback as i need to improve pretty quickly as my shots start going into the local rag this week and i dont want to look a fool.

Please note there all saved for the web and 700px on the longest side

Cheers

Hi, i'm in a similar boat, I'm the emergancy free lancer for my local paper. I'll be more full time once one of their photogs retires in 2 months.

My paper are more interested with photos of celebrations and photos that show the story of the game. Like one made the back page of a footballer missing a penalty in a 0-0 draw. Most of the other things i've had printed have been goal celebrations.

I see you have a f2.8 lens, i'd use it as my paper like really out of focus backgrounds.

Hope that helps.
Jim

I've added a few comments and an image on the photos, really like the sharpness in these photos.

Hi
Thanks for the great comments and feedback from KHolt. advice as taken and as a result i will be printed in no less than 5 local papers in the area.

At last i am printed. A major goal in my photography life has been met. I feel that i have made a major step in becoming a full time photographer (major for me at least)

:-)

Thanks again

Click here for the Rugby site and have a poke around if interested

Excellent shots, Darren. What a marvellous bunch of lads - can't be faulted for commitment. We're looking at an Irish triple crown in, what, ten to fifteen years?
Is it easier to take shots of youngsters? I'm thinking they may leave more space between each other and have more opportunities to run with the ball than would be allowed by those who are dumb enough to keep playing the game when their opponents are over fifteen stone (needless to say I was once of the latter group). :)
Congratulations on your - er - employment. I'll look forward to seeing the blossom and the fruits.
