i think it's a pretty standard thing for guys to shoot, being that so many people have one and it's kind of a neat shape..

Not only a great idea, but also a great photograph.
I don't want to offend you, but in my view Stew took the idea further (wherever he got it) and made a much more special and appealing image out of it.
Many people shoot flowers.... a number of people shoot razors....

It's totally different, Olympian. Your razor is doubleaction. The other two photographs are microaction.
Geeez. How can you even compare.

LOL!
And I thought I was the unique one!!!
He did do a much better job than me. Although, I have to say it was my first challenge and almost first photo with my new camera. The camera came in the mail the day before the challenge ended.
