The further south you go in Illinois, the more St. Louis Cardinals fans there are. I grew up right at the midpoint, where the mix is about 50/50. My father was raised as a Cubs fan, but for some unknown reason switched sides and raised my sister and I as Cardinals fans. We caught a lot of flak from the family for many years over that! Anyway, we were actually closer to St. Louis than to Chicago, and we made many Summer roadtrips into STL for games. I spent a lot of my childhood in the old Busch Stadium. My 10th birthday was spent in that park, and I got to watch my name scroll across the scoreboard. (Incidentally, that was 1985, the same year the Bears last won the Superbowl.)
But like I mentioned earlier, there is NO division of loyalties in Illinois when it comes to football. You might get some stray Packers fans up along the northern border from Rockford on west, but 99.9% of the state roots for the Bears.
