I am making a trip that way sometime next week. Anything anyone wants me to check on?

I will be happy to do so :)

Alright, we're booked. The wife and I will be coming up on Friday sometime after a short nap (we work the night before) and staying until Sunday. We snagged a room in the inn as I wasn't really clear on the camping arrangements. Anyway, see you guys there.

hey guys - jojo asked me to post some stuff for her (quote):

I got some brochures and price lists today, scanned them and uploaded them here for everyone to look at. There is PLENTY of room RIGHT NOW at the INN if anyone plans to stay there. Here is the folder in my portfolio: jojo's FCF links....

WHO'S STILL IN?

Just two more weeks! Okay - everybody who's going, PLEASE chime in with an update (how many nights, and whether you are going to use a tent / cabin / the inn). It's totally your choice - just easier to gather if there is some kind of organization happening...

(updated list of participants today)

I love that place, but dout I will get to go. Last time I went I had a few issues. 1 lots of people, was difficult to get a nice shot without a punk kid in it, even in the danger wet rocks areas, 2 the water levels were low, lack of rain dried led to small water fall. 3 trash and litter, ther was someones bra and tshirt IN the waterfall.
To those going...Have fun and hope your trip soes better than mine...and I truly think it is one of the more beautiful places Ive ever been.

Unfortunately, I've had something come up that forces me to back out. I was very much looking forward to meeting some of you, but I guess I'll have to wait.

I just released a reservation (one minute ago) on one of the two bedroom cabins, so if anyone's interested in that, call them right away and it might be available.

we will be in TN that weekend, but in Sevierville -- the TN air museum has a "fly in" of vintage warbirds, and our 5 year old absolutely LOVES this event. it is also on the 14th, so . . . the 5 yo and airplanes win out. soz.

Just to get all the "facts" up to date, I will actually still be in the hospital recovering from heart surgery while you guys and gals are having fun, so please have some fun for me :) The kids may be at the air museum, but I'll have other things to attend to. Hope you all have a great time!

Bernard, I am so sorry to hear that you are having health issues; it amazes me how we men in only our thirties are having heart problems. I want you & Karma to know that Glenda & I will be wishing you the best of care and a speedy recovery - Lord knows it can't be easy for your family. Just keep in mind that your DPC family here is thinking of you, and take good care of yourself!!

OK gang - lets see who can come up with the best scenic pic for the Shuford's (maybe a little of Tennessee's beautiful landscape will give Bernard something to enjoy, instead of those drab hospital walls!)

Thanks for the thoughts. The good news is that it's "the simplest kind of heart surgery they do" in one respect, even though it's a full blown open heart procedure. I'm having a rather large congenital defect repaired, rather than one of those stress related breakdowns, and I've known it was coming all my life, just a matter of when.

Thanks again - you guys and gals have a LOT of fun and DO post some pics. :)

Sorry guys we're going to have to back out too. :( Bummer too as this sounds like it'll be loads of fun. Have a great time everyone!

So, who's left? We'll still be there.
04/07/2007 01:02:42 PM · #121
I'll be there :) Also, I know the casa de Ross is coming... anyone else gonna make it??

Any specific hikes anyone wants to go on??

Bernard, I am so sorry to hear about your health problems... I hope everything turns out alright. You will be in my thoughts. karmat, if you need anything dear, please let me know and I will do what I can.

Hey everybody, I'm still trying my best to make it. I have a senior (high school) photo shoot on Sunday but I should be able to make it down for Saturday. I will let you know by Friday if I'm going to make it or not. I wish the gas prices would drop a bit. Yeah, like thats going to happen!

i am so wishing we could join ya'll this weekend. Instead, we will be enjoying the Memorial Mission Hilton. :/ His surgery is scheduled for 11 am on the 11th of April (tomorrow, today, or some time in the past, depending on when you read this).

To keep from getting too nervous about, I just keep reminding myself that the surgeon said of all the open heart surgeries they do, this particular one is the "easiest."

have fun, be careful, and take lot and lots of pictures. :)

Billy,
Thanks for the PM. I never saw the thread, but I should be up there Saturday. I've heard rumors of thunderstorms that day. I hope they aren't too bad, because the motorcycle ride would be great!
