so i just won this lens:

//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140069106471&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

but i just noticed that its under 35mm lenses, for digital. i thought i was browsing digital lenses. does anyone know if it will work for the D80? i sent the dude a message and he said he did not know, but to find out before i bought it. he said something about a focal length multiplyer for my D80? ahhh....

I have that lens on a Canon 1.6 crop and it works. Not sure if the Nikon mount is different but the 35mm full frame lenses throw a larger image circle so are normally fine on a digital so long as the mount fits.

Edit: Good price also :-)

Yeah, I snuck in there with 10 seconds left. Well, I think I will just buy it and hope it fits. If it doesnt I could alwyas just re-sell it and keep the filters :D

A quick google search and my guess is that it will fit

The Nikon mount hasn't changed in quite a while, so lenses originally designed for film bodies will mount no problem (there will just be a 1.6x crop factor, as robs mentioned, because the digital sensor is smaller than 35mm). With some older lenses you loose exposure metering, but I think that's only really old ones. From what I hear, the D40 requires AF-S lenses to utilize autofocus because it doesn't have a built in motor due to it's small size, but I believe it's the only Nikon body that has that issue.

Yes, it will fit. Nikon mount is the same for film and digital.

The only thing you have to find out is if it will meter correctly.
