I am afraid there is something wrong with the sensor of my nikon d70s as I doubt the true picture would show as follows... please let me know what you think ? I have taken many shots of the sun in the past with my sony DSC-V1 and never seen anything like this. I put one exemple here, but there are many......

If you have damaged your sensor the damage would show up on every shot -- not just the shotes with the sun in it. High contrast, back-lit subjects ofte have purple fringes.

| Looks ok to me. Dial down the exposure and it should be fine. |

| That's what you get when you shoot with a CCD into the sun, nothing wrong with the sensor. |

I shot a D70 for about a year. The camera is well known for blooming when pointed directly at the sun. Don't worry about it.

| do other cameras have this problem or is it just the D70? What about the D80 or D200..... |

I wouldn't say that was really a problem... just waaaay overexposed..

Antiblooming should have worked :D. Antiblooming basically prevents electrons from spilling over on to the next pixel. The electrons (excess energy) only spill over on to the pixels on the vertical axis.
