I'm doing OK on the Patterns thing, at 5.8 and change. I think I'll keep it.

On the "damn, I hate not having internet front", I think I'll just move to my office. Though to be fair, this monitor sucks for scoring challenges. Still, I'll give it a shot this weekend. I haven't been able to vote in any challenges in weeks.

I did stop by the phone company office to check on my status for internet connection; the nice lady there called whoever it is she calls, and got "Call back on Wednesday. We only worked three days this week!" Well, I'm beginning to come to the grim and positively appalling realization that for me there simply may be no internet at home. At all. Internet via cable is not widespread here and I do not believe the small town I live in is on the list of places where it exists. Apparently the issue is the small town where I live only has a certain number of available ports for DSL, and where I live they're all in use. I really have no other options at this point. Heck, I don't even have a modem in my computer to attempt dial-up.

To say I'm depressed would be a slight understatement. When one lives alone and has used the internet as a link to the "outside world" for, oh, more years than a lot of users here have been alive, well, depressed doesn't quite cover it. Heck, I didn't even know for two days that President Ford had died.

Gawd, I may have to develop a social life. Timfy, I miss our chats. (Yes, I occasionally converse with one of "them"...)

Anyway, I'm bummed. And I've not a whole lot to consider for the December Free Study, but since I joined the marathon, I'll have to come up with something, huh?

Suck on.

xianart thanks for info on high pass layer. I'll be interested to try it out.

posthumous thanks for putting the new thread together.

I'm off to photograph fences! Wish me luck and something challenge-worthy :-)

It is going to be 70+ degrees in Charleston today. Woo hoo!

Melethia I'm sure if you can't get ADSL or cable, then you could buy an external modem for practically nothing and dial up, if you can find a service provider. Of course, that could be the tricky bit. erk.

Do we make a new Thread every year? This one will get long! Does Guinness have a record for the longest thread?

I just started thumbing through Harsh Environments, and I must say the bar is pretty high. There is one photo that brought me to tears it is of such quality and so emotive.

BTW, bryantbus with your recent scores you definitely don't suck :-) But glad you're an active member of our team all the same.

I walk the line, dirt and postcard did suck. I have been trying to improve. Yet I will not let the chance of a low score stop my madness, and suck is a state of mind.

Doesnt look too good for you there. The words "burned" and basic editing dont go together too well.

I just looked at your notes... if you used burn, you will be DQ'd in basic editing. Sorry :( Don't let 1 DQ get you down though.

Oh well, if you're going to get DQ'd at least you'll know why...and it's not all that bad, really! ;-)

Oh yeah all, I'm the suckee formerly known as Hotshot7.

Now to go vote on Harsh...

Woohoo! Count me in!

btw...out of curiousity I looked up that guy who shot that stomach-churning shot of a cat for Death...guess what, that pic got dq'd cause he had at least one other account, for which he chose his pic as a fave. Glad he got caught, may he never darken the dpc threshold again.

And I did this one all right no DQ on this one. Bandana - that sounds like fun.

Now now everyone, play nice...I suspect voters are probably in a good mood, all relaxed and turkeyed to the eyeballs...let's try to keep that feeling going! ;)

Dogs have owners; cats have staff.

Ruth was bribed to pose with treats at the bottom of the vase.

Rita needs no bribery if there is a flower around.

Well, with 70+ votes and about a half-point difference in score, I'd say you've already sucked me off... so to speak...
