It's all edited with a couple of gaps, and sounds pretty good! :)

Come on folks get off your tush and get this done I want to hear it!!!!!!!!!

MattO

Yeah, c'mON people! If I can do it, you can! Here's what I had to go through (remember I am totally deaf):

L2 sends me an IM, and I respond. She tells me my phone is ringing. I go in the other room, answer the phone, read my line several times, come back to the 'puter, ask her in IM if it worked, she says "perfect", go back to other room, hang up phone, return to IM and close out conversation.

First time I've used a phone in I don't know how long :-)

Just curious Robert, doesnt Karma tell you the phone is ringing? Or is that not one her trained duties? I know the Service dog we are getting has been trained to be able to do things just like this if we need it to.

Think it through; why would I want her telling me the phone is ringing if I can't hear who's on the other end anyway? Few Hearing Dogs are trained to the phone for that reason. Some people who receive these dogs have devices to use the phone, and their dogs will answer, but I use the computer for my remote contacts, so I don't need/want that option.

Bear.....I don't think I ever knew you were deaf. I've seen reference to that, but actually thought someone was just busting on you...

I'm glad you did the recording. I called you out on it when I didn't see your name on the list cuz I didn't think the poem would be right without you.

Thank you for your effort!!!!!

Merry Christmas!

Okay, so 22 and 23 are going spare. Anyone want them?
I have them already from people who already did a line, but if anyone new wants them, first come first served!

I'm recording now. I'll send it in a few minutes.

If it's ok for Nobody to participate.

Edited: Just sent - I recorded both open lines - take your pick.

We have friends who are deaf and they use the phone all the time. They have a device that vibrates that they wear on their wrist to tell them the phone was ringing. Then they have a device that they type into and it types what is said on the phone. I ASSUMED that you would also use a similar device and that since you had a service dog to help with other things this would be one she could also do.

Yeah, I assume that's a TDD. Telecommunications Device for the Deaf. For it to work, there has to be a TDD on the other end or it has to go through a special operator who transcribes. If you/they know of a device that actually transcribes speech into text on the fly, I'd love to hear about that. I find the 'puter to be more useful for my immediate and small circle of family/friends.

Merry Xmas, R.

12/24/2006 05:25:48 PM · #217
If no one else comes forward I will do them if you want...I can do it straight away...let me know...or if you want...Kita and I can do it together...just for something different.

Come on - one more who hasn't already participated! If Nobody can do it, you can too! This is your chance for immortality! A copy of the recording will be sent to the National Archives where it will remain for posterity. ...unless Sandy Berger accidentally drops it in his socks, of course.

I think we do :P
12/24/2006 06:23:05 PM · #221
I've already done one, but am available to do another if need be. Just sitting here waiting for kids to go to bed so I can start the loads and loads of wrapping. :)

it wouldn't be right to have one person do a second one........ surely there is somebody left who hasn't had a go yet!
12/24/2006 06:29:28 PM · #223
Yeh I'd definately like to have someone different!
I think Nobody's lines got lost in cyberspace, I've still not received them :S
12/24/2006 06:36:16 PM · #224
