So I already have a Rebel, and a Pansonic lumix, but i want to have a smaller camera that i can carry with me at all times so that i dont end up killing myself when i see a great shot but am cameraless (this happens at least twice a week). So I figure i can sell my Lumix and buy a nice point and shoot and only spend about 150. (If anyone wants the lumix i will sell it for 175 OBO on this site cause i love u guys). Anyway i am trying to decide between the Nikon Coolpix S7C COOLPIX Or if I should go with the Canon SD900 powershot They both look preaty much the same spec wise except for the MP which isent a huge problem considering i still have the Rebel. So if anyone knows more about these cameras, opinions experiances, anything that would make this dession easier that would be great.....Ann finally....PLEASE DONT TURN THIS INTO A NIKON VS CANON WAR!!!!!!!

I am one of the few people that likes and respects both Nikon and Canon. I looked over both cameras, tossed in my own feelings, mixed and here we go

If I were wanting a camera to take very good pics, had tons of features and didn't mind spending $430 on a PnS, I would buy the Canon. If size and price were more important, than I would go with the Nikon.

That all said, if I were really looking for a small PnS to toss in the Jeep and take everywhere with me ... I would probably choose a Canon SD600 and save a few bucks.

I could'nt pass up a 10mp $148 camera. Got it in last week ans suprisingly takes pretty good pictures for the price. Zoom is only 3x and it is not as slim and the Canon and Nikon

the sd900 is just a 10mp version of the sd550. i just got the sd800 and it rocks! Digic III with face recognition, Image Stablization, 28mm wide lens and i think it's smaller and lighter than the sd900. what are you going to do with a 10mp point n shoot camera anyway??? save urself $150 and get the sd800.

Well, I'm holding out for a D80, but I really have to say that the Coolpix 5400 has been a great learning camera for me. I knew nothing about aperature, white balance, shutter speed, ISO, etc. before and now I feel like I'm actually ready for a DSLR.

oh and get this...on the sd800 with the IS you can shoot pictures handheld with a shutter speed of half a second and the pictures is still sharp!
