Excellent, I tried to install this before but it didn't take. Now I have tried again seeing the thread running and it has worked. Thank you for writing it!

Unfortunately my days as a programmer are over. I have little tolerance for learning new coding systems.

I am waiting patiently for someone to create GM scripts to:
1) Add one click thread Ignore/Watch to the end of every forum listing.
2) Click-n-Comment. A GM script that adds a button to any Image Comment box that opens a list of check boxes for standard comments (preferably customizable) and insert the checked items into the comment box.
3) Add the message icons ([Bold Selected Text] [Italicize Selected Text] [Insert Image] [Insert Hyperlink] [Insert Thumbnail Link to Site Image] [Insert Link to User Profile]) above all comment boxes and Prefs page text boxes. Add a Strike Selected Text for the [strike ] option.
4) Add a row of Icons just below the Reply box with commonly used Forum Icons, Popcorn, DeadHorse, Smileys, etc.

Anyone feeling adventurous enough to tackle one or more of these?

For some reason this does not work for me, I installed Foxfire, then greasemonkey, but when I try to install this script, it just sits there doing nothing.

The new-comment greasemonkey script isn't working with the latest updated version of Firefox (2.0.0.4).

It worked fine prior to this update.

Yup, me too. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but nada...

edit: oh wait... maybe I'm just not getting any comments.....? :P

Bought a new machine and had to install everything from scratch. I gotta tell ya... one of the very first things I "missed" on my new machine was this DPC Profile Image script!

I still wish DPC implemented this right in the website so we wouldn't need an add-on to use it.

Bumping for everyone else to take a look and try it out.

Not everyone wants this feature... so as a DPCMod its excellent... as a regular feature its not

Although, as a regular feature that any user could turn on/off, it would be pretty cool :)

Working good for me (Firefox 2.0.0.6)

Looks nice... I'm impressed!

I still cannot get keyboard voting to work without having to hold down the the 'alt' key. If I use the num pad it puts the vote score in the comments area an also ask me to confirm my vote on each picture. This takes longer than voting with mouse.

I remember being able to vote with the num pad and it did not put your vote in the comments area and you did not have to confirm each vote, it would go to the next picture.

I have re-installed GM and the mod but still does not work. Am I doing something wrong.

I realize that. But it would be a piece of cake to make it an option on your preferences page and then you wouldn't need a "mod" to make it work.

This is great mod. Thanks for writing it.

awesome mod i must say...

I must say with the latest release of Safari for the PC, I'm gonna be a convert. I just can't get firefox to render color profiles accurately, but Safari now works.... whooo hoooo!

Anyway, is there any chance for DPmods for Safari? I'm ignorant of the differences in coding.

By the way, I love the ability to show avatars, and to vote using the keyboard. Great job!

There should* be minimal differences in code as all the browsers implement JavaScript.

The crux is whether there is a browser plugin/extension to allow user javascript to be executed. For FireFox, this is GreaseMonkey. For IE, I recently discovered Turnabout. For Safari, I don't know whether one exists.

* JavaScript is slightly different among the browsers, but that's another story.

Another issue with code compatibility is that GreaseMonkey provides some nice built in functions (particularly for non-volatile storage for my scripts so it can remember your preferences, how many comments you had last time, etc) that a few of the mods depend on.

Luckily for IE, Turnabout supports these methods because they built it like GreaseMonkey because of the library of scripts already built for GreaseMonkey.

Will Safari be so lucky? I dunno...

Cool! I like it!

Looks like Safari has GreaseKit. The page seems pretty light on instructions, but maybe it'll work. Feel free to give it a try and let me know. =)

I may try it on Safari for Windows at home, if I find any time to waste on it, which is not so likely. =)

Thanks for the suggestion.

Trouble is, GreaseKit looks like it is a mac application. I don't know any way around this. Perhaps GreaseKit will extend it's userbase to windows with time? Hopefully.

Hey Jeff, I installed it again, but somehow the profile-pics won't scale down. When I make it 65% in my preferences and save, it will get back to 100% immediately.

How come?

Hmm, dunno. Are you using Firefox with GreaseMonkey or IE with Turnabout? I wrote them with/for GreaseMonkey, so I could see the IE knockoff having problems but don't have time these days to look into it. Sorry!

//www.onetacoshort.com/DPCmod/ says that this will work in Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 but what about 3.0?

Sorry, yeah I haven't updated the page in a while. Yes, it works in FF3.

I am having this same problem running Firefox 3.0.2 and Greasemonkey 0.8.20080609.0. Any ideas?

Hmm, I'm not sure why FF3 isn't saving this value.

You may work around this by editing the script:
- Tools -> GreaseMonkey -> Manage User Scripts
- click on "DPC Profile Images in Forum" on the left
- click on "Edit" below
- (If it asks you for an editor, choose your favorite text editor, notepad, or wordpad)
- Next the top of the script, on line 28, change this:

if(GM_getValue("DPC_profile_img_size") == null) {
GM_setValue("DPC_profile_img_size", 100);
}

- to this (add //, change number to 50, 75, or whatever you want... I like 75):

//if(GM_getValue("DPC_profile_img_size") == null) {
GM_setValue("DPC_profile_img_size", 75);
//}

- save the file and reload the page. You should notice your new value in your preferences.

--------------------

PS - I wish Langdon would give us a [code][/code] tag which translates to
... You don't even have to make an icon for it - just sneak it in. =D

PPS - Thanks, Nathan - who knew! Although if I were to be picky, I don't like that extra line break... =)
