Jeff, your modified voting script is awesome! Works like a charm. Thanks!

So Jeff, what can we do for you?
This unselfish act of all the time spent and changes on request is quite the
improvement here and after looking at the script code, know a lot went into this.
Personally I would like to see Drew & Langdon kick in an extension on your
membership or give you the portfolio membership benefits the SC members get.

Edit to add:
There is a major bug in it - just found it - after uninstalling and
reinstalling the new version, my Free Study challenge score dropped.
Just kidding - made ya look... :D

Yup. I like that. 50% was too small. 67% is nice.

At 50% it looked weird with the text left aligned and the image centered. At 67% it looks better, but not perfect (my turn to pick a nit. lol).

You can pick any number, as long as the digits add up to 4. ;)

I tried 193%, but it doesn't upsize :(

Jeff, I'm tickled pink with your efforts - thank you for doing these for us!

Internet Explorer folk are not out of luck. See my new thread.

Update v1.4: New options on the preferences page for centering the image and/or the username.

For those who were bugged by the fact that the centered image looked weird next to the left-aligned username. =)

Thanks man!

These are awesome.

hmm with all these things available.. would it be very hard to make a script to show if someone is online / offline in the forums? maybe with a green / red button next to the username or something like that. If it isn't too much trouble....

:D

Hey this is just too cool...wahooo!!
12/03/2006 03:32:48 PM · #63
hehehe, coool stuff...;)

maybe you could also fix the profile pictures to the "who's online" list...
12/03/2006 03:44:20 PM · #64
Yes, it's pretty cool, though I wonder if there could be an option to make the images half-size.

Clever stuff, grease monkeys. ;>รพ

It's already there... Go to your DPC preferences and you'll find a new box for the image size. I like 67%. 50% was too small. ;)

What happens if the user doesn't have a profile pic

I wrote somewhere (maybe further above) how it's tracky what you can and can't do with client-side scripts. You can do anything you want with the data on the page, but if it's not there, it's not there.

Information about whether people are logged in or not does not fall in the feasible category, unfortunately.

Thanks for the nice comments, all. =)

Cheers,
-Jeff

PS: Owen - that's an easy one - nothing shows up =)

Oh well, it was too good to be true ;-)

Thanks anyway, love the work you put in this to make us all feel very happy :D

Thank you smurfguy for the Trixie Fix for IE7. I can see the images on the Forum pages. The only problem that I am having is that the script wants to keep reloading, and I'm not sure yet how to get rid of it.

I think it works great as well-- As of now I have mine set at 75%-
Nice work-

This is something this site has been missing that pretty much every other community based site has. Well done...

If langdon or drewmedia reads this:

Let me know if you had not added profile images because of bandwidth (is that why the site is choppy sometimes?) I could cache the images on my webhost, if you'd prefer... as long as the traffic isn't insane.

I'd also be happy to help implement such (or any other) features on the server. I now get paid to develop websites, so technically I'm a professional. =) And if you want it to be a members-only feature, I could help you break the script from the server side. It is your site, after all.

Cheers,
-Jeff
