Hi

I was wondering how this works.

Is it possible to upload (or try to anyway) the same shot in multiple agencies?

How does that work in general?

Thanks

Edit: I've been reading more and more posts and finding out about exclusivity. I'm starting to get the idea :)

Most of the microstocks allow it -- and what you'll probably find is that the same photo may be accepted at one and rejected at another. A few people go exclusive with one agency in exchange for a higher rate, but I think most people don't.

What's not a good idea is to upload the same photo to a microstock site(e.g. Shutterstock) and also to a rights-managed stock site (e.g. Alamy).

I certainly wouldn't go exclusive. Mostly that isn't worth the trouble.

If you upload the same pic to several sites, you'll see that some pics do well on one site and won't be DL'ed at all at an other one.

I upload to multiple sites adn I wouldn't go exclusive either. The reasons have been stated - one picture does great on one site nad not so great elsewhere. I don't think any of my top sellers on one site are top sellers on another site. Also, once you have done the work processing and keywording your pictures, it is generally not that much more effort to sumbit to multiple sites. It kind of leverages your effort. However, there are some sites out there that have so little traffic that the effort to upload to them and categorize pictures isn't even worth the effort. I recommend you choose you sites wisely and make sure none of them require you to be exclusive if you want to upload those same pictures elsewhere.
