Looking to buy a budget zoom lens. Nikkor 70-300 4-5.6 D ED or Sigma 70-300 4-5.6 APO Super Macro.

Opinions

I'm looking at that Sigma 70-300 for Christmas, but for my Pentax.

Bump to ANYONE.
DPCers are typically pretty opinionated. Somebody must have an opinion on this.
It's hard to tell anything looking at 640 pixel examples on this site.
Give me PROS, CONS anything.

Thank you all in advance.

It's a budget zoom. I own the 70-300 as my long lens. It's perfectly fine, but for me it's slow in terms of responsiveness. I often have to crank up the ISO or drag out a tripod. It's still gotten me pretty far in my development at a photographer. I don't go out the door without it.

After lots of researching, I went with the Sigma. Better quality than the nikon, and a 1:2 macro too. For the price, I can't fault it.

I like the 70-300mm Nikon. It's capable of taking very sharp shots and I assume the price is right since they've introduced a version with VR and all those other midrange zooms?

I don't remember but Shuttefly or Flickr (maybe another site?)allows you to search images by lens name and there you'll see tons of shots to give you a good idea what they are both capable of doing. Good Luck!

I think it PBase???
