OK I've been wanting to make one of these for a while a "clear" brush instead of just an opaque one.

I followed the excellent directions in PS for photographers by Scott Kelby but it goes on to embed the copyright/logo in the photo, not make a brush.

This is what it looks like done correctly. (wouldn't use this big for proofing but you get the idea)

This is what I get when I make a brush... it lost the hard light blending option.

FYI the steps are...
Do this work in an image so you can see the effects as you do them.
Create the image you want and have it on a transparant layer (rasterize text etc and merge down).
Filter, Stylize, Emboss, leave settings at defult but you can change the height setting to be greater (see the example box as you play with the number)
Lock the transparent pixel box (left transparent square next to the word Lock on the layers pallet)
Filter, Blur, Gaussian Blur of 2-3 pixels.
Blending options, Hard Light.

From there when I make a brush, everything else stays correct except I lose the Hard Light (clear) effect. Even if I use it on another image and try to apply the hard light again, it doesn't make it clear
If I could get the hard light to work secondhand I could always hit the image with the brush and then run an action to make it clear... but I can't get the hard light to work after the brush.

Any help would be appreciated.
Melissa

When using the brush, can't you select 'Hard Light' as the blend mode for the brush?
