Compose with the current rules in mind and you'll be just fine.

Knowing that I can (or can not) remove a distracting minor element could mean the difference of going ahead with the shot or moving on to another.

You'll put Art out of job. I thought he was burning their villages.

I think we need at least a week to discuss (argue about) and critique (be critical of) the new rules.

The sky is not falling. Anything that gets you in trouble with the new rules would probably be risky under the current ones too. It's highly unlikely that your shooting plans would change.

Everyone needs to unclinch and wait for the rules to be released. Geez.

Wow. People are arguing about the new rules even before they come out. This bodes well ;)

I for one welcome our new simplified ruleset overlords.

They've been discussed and argued about for at least as long as I've been a member. Let's just try 'em out next week and see what happens, shall we?

Popcorn, anyone?

These are the likely the same people who used to hunt where their parents hid their christmas presents. It must have created some emotional insecurity.

Looks like we'll have to hide the new rules where the cookies are hidden. EGAD!! ...... Did I say cookies???

You have to wonder why? I'm quite confident that the rules will be fine given the time and effort that SC and Langdon put into reworking them.

Besides, kick and fuss all you want, but I certainly can't imagine any changes to the new rules being entertained for hopefully quite some time.

Wow there's a lot of impatience out there. The SC doing the editing says you'll be fine if you go ahead with the current way of doing things so just do what you do and wait til they post. Patience patience. You know they say good things come to those who wait.

Wow!!! Ivo, so good to see you back!! It is a pleasant surprise.

I would like to see a popcorn ban in threads that discuss serious things like rules and bans and stuff like that.

Can you tell us what the key changes are ????????????

You have to use Microsoft Paint and Notepad to post-process your photos.

Now that's just wrong!! :P

From a practical standpoint, what's allowed isn't all that different from the current rules. Among the key changes...

You'll be allowed to remove sensor dust and hot pixels in Basic! Don't try to clone out anything else though. ;-)

The Literal Artwork rules will be significantly relaxed. If the voters can TELL it's artwork, the entry will be legal and you'll be at the mercy of the voters.

The term "Major Elements" is completely gone. Instead, we'll focus on allowing touchup or removal of minor imperfections. You can use filters, but adding new features like motion blur or textures where none existed before isn't allowed.

The rules will be in a new format that should be both shorter and easier to understand. We're aiming for better clarity here rather than big changes.

mk smites (or at least she did :( ) -- Karma is much more subtle. :)

No, it's pretty easy. You'll see. ;-)

As long as we are not required to guess what someone else imagines a non-existant average person to think about the image, it should be much easier. :P

Glad to see they are coming out.

This is already legal in advanced (and will remain so). It is also currently illegal in basic (and will remain so). With the exception of sensor dust, which you will now be able to remove in both sets.

the new rules seems reasonable and i think that there aren't great changes.

I would suggest to add a paragraph on the subjects and the saturation :)

...and he can continue to do so. We just get dibs on the trolls themselves.

Looks good, fewer clearer rules is the way to go imo.

Looking forward to reading them.
