I have to agree. After spending all week trying to come up with a great shot you tend to get a little jaded and unless something is extra super, its hard to be impressed. I think on the next challenge I vote I'm going to wait a day or two before voting so that my vote is more accurate.

I like a photo that just screams "wind" without looking at the title. Though there are some beautiful photos, only a few (in my opinion) have REALLY met the challenge.

Hi Folks,

This is really driving me nuts! How does one review the current status of a challenge submission? It appears, from this thread, that you guys are tracking votes. What's the secret?

Thanks.

Yep. There it is. Thanks, all. That's what I get for setting my profile as Home. I've never visited (obviously) DPC home since... well... some time now. :-)

of qll the challenges I have voted on this is the least inspiring the images are hackneyed (flags) unimaginative, and static there is not a lot of feeling of wind at all I have never voted as low as I have with this challenge .

I have enjoyed voting on the photos in this challenge... finished voting on all the entries. I wish that negative comments were not so common in the forums, especially the first night of a challenge and especially when they are in reference to a group of photos that share a similar theme. I enjoy giving out high scores, especially on the first night.

opps, forgot to put up my score

Though I had not submitted, I finished voting on the entries and made a generous number of comments in this challenge. Some of the shots were executed very well and are technically superb ...... but overall, there is a clear lack of enthusiam in so many submissions. Wind is such a dynamic and dramatic force in our existence lending itself to wide interpretation ranging from subtlty to unabashed ferocity. It is certainly one of the most influential of all elements though apparently not influential enough to blow a great deal of creativity into this challenge. Too bad.

Well I have also completed a 100% vote on this "Wind" Challange, and so so disappointed with what I have seen.

A handfull of really good entries, portraying "wind"...
Another handful of photos that are really well taken, but just don't portray wind IMO...
Some entries are very disappointing, and now have to go back to do some commenting which is going to be a tuff road.....

Too many flags, too many staged wind images, too many inside out unbrellas, and not enough wind.....

HERE IS THE WAY ITS WORKED OUT: SENT TO ME BY Sammie

I posted this in the Bokeh Scores thread but just in case you didn't see it in the threads I thought I'd send it to you, too.

If you don't want to mess with excel; there is an easy, simple arithmetic method you can use to figure out the number of a vote received. You can only figure out the exact vote you received this way if only one vote has been given since the last time you wrote your score down.

For example (this is from a previous challenge):

At 221 votes the score is 5.6154

221 x 5.6154 = 1241

At 222 votes the score is 5.6126

222 x 5.6126 = 1246

The number of the vote given is the difference of the two:

1246 - 1241 = 5

So, A score of 5 was given.

Lots of times, you have to round the number up a bit when you multiply the vote x score number. The auctual number you get when you multiply 222x5.6126 is 1245.9972 - you round it up to 1246.

If more than one vote has passed since you wrote down your score you have to divide the difference by the number of votes to get an average of the votes given.

For example:

at 255 votes the score is 5.6392

255 x 5.6392 = 1438

at 257 votes the score is 5.6381

257 x 5.6381 = 1449

Subtract the totals:

1449 - 1438 = 11

Two votes were given that equal 11 - so, most likely with the score this picture has been getting the votes are a 5 & 6.

If two votes added up to 11 on a picture that was scoring in the high 6's or 7's you would porbably figure it was an 8 and a 3 or even a 9 and 2.

This sounds long and complicated but it's really super simple when you get in the habit of doing it. Usually, I write my scores down each time I check them and then if you see a sudden drop or rise you can multiply things out and figure out what vote you received.

I'm looking forward to seeing which picture is yours after the challenge!

Sincerely,
Sammie

I have compleated voting in the wind chalenge and do feel that my votes were low but they were very alike. I do agree that it is hard to capture wind in a still and we just did not get any wind blowing were I live during the challenge. Nothing really jumpt out of the screen and said I am a winner.

Ivo you left a very nice comment on my photo, thank you. I just wish everyone saw it as you do because so far my score isn't that great.
