Are there any discounts out there to help students afford the full version of photoshop? I've been using CS2 becasue it is loaded on our computers for my job as Photo Editor for our paper and would really like to find a way to get it for my iMac.

When my wife went to PoL you could order the full version of adobe premium 2.0 which included CS2 for $565.00 when the retail price was over $1500.00

take a course at your local collage & you can pick up Adobe Student licensing package - here the combo (PSCS2 & illistrator & Acrobat & acouple of small programs) was 299(CND) where the PSCS2 alone was 349(CND)

(probably translates to 250USD & 300USD or there 'bouts .. )

that course was 340$ (all the courses have been ~2k$ .... so far ....)

Adobe does have academic licensing. Here is a site that has Photoshop CS2 academic versions. It would be very prudent of you to read the actual academic license and make sure that you will be able to use it for your intended purposes.

price: $289.95

I know it's offered through my university at a substantial discount, but the kicker is that you can only use if for educational purposes. If you go commerical and use it for business, then you're in violation of the license.

If you have a legal older version, I think it's not so pricy to just upgrade.

You can buy one for legitimate educational purposes and then use that as your registered copy from which to upgrade the next time -- you'll be able to use the upgrade for anything (that's the point of the educational discount in the first place!).

You know, I never would have thought of that. Good to know, thanks GeneralE!

Thank you all, I appreciate the help. 300 ish is much better than the full price. Also, how does CS2 run on intel macs?, Is it possible?

CS runs fine on my intel iMac. CS2 should be no different. Of course, when the next version is released, it'll be a universal binary and will be much faster on intel mac hardware.
