Could it be useful to vote at the thumbnails view to speed up voting?.

Hey it would be even quicker if the images just weren't displayed at all!

Voting faster is not beneficial to the community, the photographers, or the voters. Many photos -- in the Urban Landscape challenge, MOST photos -- have details you simply cannot see at the thumbnail size.

yeah that would be cool just to vote on the title:p

Why vote at all? Let's just do:

Score = 1+(IMAGE_ID%9)

Yes, speed.
They could let people ride scooters through the art museums too. LOL

When I don't have enough time to vote on the full sized image, giving each shoot at least a minute or two of thought, I use a wonderful technic I'd like to share...

... I don't vote :)

I don't have time for detail. Can't I just give all the pictures a 6, since it's close to the "Submit" button? Ohhh, ohhh! Ive got it! An "I give all the images on this thumbnail page a ____" box. Its the ultimate in art, technology and efficiency!

I don't think a thumbnail is an accurate means to judge. For instance, in the challenge archives //dpchallenge.com/challenge_archive.php the Circle of Life in the Life challenge looks like some lumps of clay made to look like a hand. It's not until I clicked the image to see the details that I knew what it was and why it recieved 2nd place.

Wow Anireno - did you ever get jumped-on for this one! I think they're right tho, better not to vote then to vote without taking the time

When out of time, choose 'C'.

I think that my question has not been undestood.
I don't want to eliminate the traditional voting, what I mean is to
add a way to do a first fast pass over the photos. Sometimes there are
shots that can be voted with the thumbnail. And then, as a second pass
focus on the comments, and refine your votes. I´m saying that 300 votes
it´s a very time consumming work if you don´t have time to.

I disagree -- it has been quite understood. Changing your vote is MUCH more difficult and time consuming than just doing it right the first time. Each time you vote on an image, a new, unvoted on image gets displayed for you to vote. If you make your quick pass, and you then bring up your sorted list to 'refine' your vote, you have to first scroll down to that group of photos -- say your '6' votes, figure out which photos you haven't refined ('cause they are displayed in random order each time), look at the image and then change your vote. Now back to the top -- scroll down to the 6's.... This takes MUCH more time than doing it right the first time.

If you were to do an initial pass on thumbnails and give a thumbnail that wasn't too clear a '1' -- what are the chances you'd actually get to that photo on your second pass, only to look at the full view to see what you were really missing and then know that it was AMAZING and deserved a 10?

Technically you don't have to do all that scrolling and finding. If you right-click (or in some browsers control-click or command-click) to bring up the picture in a new window or a new tab, you can re-vote it and then close that window or tab, going back to your undisturbed thumbnail view in your original window or tab. This is super-easy on a Mac, in Safari, Mozilla, Camino, or another browser with tabbed browsing, and I've become addicted to it for all kinds of sites. On a PC it would be slightly clunkier but still faster than trying to find your place on a rearranged thumbnail page each time.

Well duh! That should have been totally obvious, but clearly I missed it. Thanks for the tip. My revotes just got faster...
