Sorry I'm late. Building a home is a pain on the last 2% of completion!

I'll try and catch up and KEEP UP!

This butterfly was sitting on flower today! Guess what? I'm a dummy. I had my extension tube for about 2 weeks. Took many shots. Like the tube very much. Last night I went to a football game with my camera and 105 macro. I noticed that I couldn't focus every shot. Seems something was wrong with my lens. I then noticed that my "limit" switch was on. I turned it off and shot all night.

This morning when I went to shoot some macros, it seemed I couldn't focus at the same distance I shot macros with last week. I moved the camera closer and closer and closer...finally a focus....MY GOD...it seems that I now have a MICROSCOPE as a lens. That "limit" switch was preventing me from getting as close as possible last week...now I'm freaking centimeters from the subject...I'll work on "focus" as time goes on...

Enjoy.

I know it's a little early, but as I probably do not have time tomorrow, you'll get day 4 today:

Day 3

I don't know why, but it seems like I'm losing image quality when I upload. They don't seem as sharp.

QUESTION!!! (a newbie one at that)

How strict is the definition of "macro"? Is it just that you are looking at something close up or is it that the camera actually IS close up?

AKA... can I use my telephoto standing far but zoomed in to get some macro shots?

I think a lot of what we call "macro" would not be "macro" in the true sense .... but, the DPC view of macro seems to be quite broad - it includes all sorts of closeup work and it doesn't matter how it was achieved.

Some of the telephotos even have a "macro" setting, where you can get closer to the subject than what the normal tele would allow.

I think any "closeup" will do. Even if it is achieved with a zoom.

For example, an elephant's head would likely not be considered macro, however crop it to his eyeball and I think it counts...IMO.
