That's nice, I like it.

All right!

I did some macros 2 days ago, when it was sunny (it's cloudy today) so this is for Day 1:

Will get back to comment later - I have to go get new glasses now, my old ones aren't working so good anymore.

Okay, I've read of reverse mounting a 50mm. How exactly is that done? I know it has been discussed before, but since this is a macro thread, I thought it might be interesting for some explanation here. (re -- I don't wanna do a forum search)

you need a reversing ring.the mounting ring is only a few bucks. what is the thread size of your 50 and what is the thread size of the lens you want to mount it to? I have one I am not using anymore since I sold one of the lens.

it's just a double male thread , like a stepup/stepdown ring
so the sensor side element is pointing towards your subject

if you are shooting (canon) some lenses you have to shove a match stick in a slot to keep the lens open all the way

my 50 is 52mm
and I guess i would mount it to a 58 (or another 52)

for some reason, i can't find a reversing filter on adorama or b&h... odd...

anyway... if you get one from elvis_l, you'll need this to use this :
//www.adorama.com/FLD5855.html

just ran across this product (and added it to my wish list) it will let use use filters on the back of your 50mm lens when it's reverse mounted...

//www.adorama.com/NKBR3.html

unfortunately, it's for nikon mount... not sure if there's one made for canon or not...

edit to add:

looking at the photo of the canon 50mm lens, and it doesn't look like there's a manual apature ring. if not, you're going to have an extra issue when reverse mounting. you'll have to find a way to old the apature ring open. usually, there's a lever right next to the rear glass that you can hold open w/ your finger or w/ a small piece of folded paper...

ok just found it and it goes from 52 to 58. you won't need anything else. just screw it on the front of one and screw the front of the other one to it. PM me with your address.

You attach a 50mm lens to another lens, filter thread to filter thread. I have a pair of 49mm Cokin plates, and had them bolted together. I attached my P&W with a step-up ring to 49mm on one end, and the 55mm f/1.8 Super-Takumar to the other end. Put the camera on infinity focus, you focus by moving in and out.

I am so pleased that you have joined us with the Macro 30 days images. My only problem is I am so worried that in 30 days, I will have another 30 images of Ursula's in my favorites.....

Well, there sure are a lot of picture to look at in here already. Beautiful stuff. I am so glad about this - it's such a terrific excuse to make more macros :)

DAY 2:

From yesterday. I picked a couple of these poppies on my walk back home, and they're in my office window now (right now they're just about done, they last only a day or so).

Are these considered "macro"? Doesn't look like a "macro", but it's made quite close, the flower are so small.

Haven't had a chance to make images today. Will go for a walk now and see what happens.

here is day 3 a butterfly not sure what kind but he was yellow. he was using his tounge(?) to lick the middle of the flower. hoe you like it.

BTW this is handheld. it is cropped but I could still get a 6X6 print at 150 DPI. I was only a few inches away using my 100 2.8 lens.
