So, the new challenge is "Morning".

"Love 'em or hate 'em, we all have to face 'em. What does "morning" mean to you?"

So, let's see...morning dew on a flower? Fog over a still pond? In my part of the world, surfers are out at the crack of dawn so maybe some surfing action? Nah, that wouldn't delight the voters. How about a still life of scrambled eggs and toast? Coffee cup with steam rising out of it? I got it...a lonely paper boy on a bicycle (or maybe a milkman) in the dark early morning hours.

Too many decisions--I think I'll just snooze a little while longer.

I work overnights and don't get off until 6AM, plus I'm a landscape photographer so I'm constantly out and about pre-dawn...however, I am the very definition of a night person...mornings scare me :)

Mornings are THE time of day for a photographer. The most important piece of equipment for a landscape photographer is an alarm clock.

Landscapes in the "morning" challenge is fine if that's what mornings are to you (staring outside the window or something). But personally I'd avoid a sunrise landscape because it's been quite over-done lately IMHO.

You don't have to take the sunrise, its just the quality of light in a morning is so much better than any other time of day. Certainly here in the UK we get beautiful side lighting with a little bit of damp in the air. Which is just pure 'atmosphere' in a photo.

I probably won't do a sunrise for the reasons you point out, but my image will almost certainly be a dawn/pre-dawn landscape of some description.

This challenge allows night photography into the equation too, so watch out for the cityscapes and bridges. My guess is there will be lots of grunged teenagers in bed and more than a few sleeping cats too.

The hardest part of mornings is the getting up part. I'VE GOT SCHOOL TOMORROW BECAUSE IT'S THE END OF QUEENSLAND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS! WAAAAH!
(I live in a state of Australia)

It is 5.06 AM over here. The rest of the morning I won't experience as I'm headed to bed. :P

Wrong! The most important piece of equipment for a landscape photographer is a pot of strong coffee :)

Personally I find it easier to stay up until 4:00 or 5:00 than to get up at that time. I am definitely not a morning person, that's why I prefer sunset shots over sunrise shots.

I always said it too until last Saturday morning. Two days too early.

Yes, that's what I think too. Once I wanted to do a morning shooting and stayed up till 7:00! This was a bit crazy: I went to bed, my neighbors to work ;)

Not until I have a cup of coffee.

Meh.

If I can get up out of bed, no matter the hour, I'm good. It's just that first step that usually takes more willpower than I have.

Morning person? Only if there's a good reason.

Oh yes, I love 1, 2, 3 even 4 a.m. - but any time between 5 and 10 a.m. is just, well..... uncivilized.
