well the firt step (in photoshop) is i used the magic wand to separate the sky from the the rest of the pic, then i created another layer with just the sky in it.
i darkened it using levels. selective colors to remove the blue shades and make it grey. then i blended the layer with the original setting the opacity at 75% and using darken.then unsharp mask, i think i used radius=5 threshold=0 and the amount 50%. then saved.

then i used paintshop pro on the saved image contrast adjustment, clarify filter twice.then saved.

then again photoshop used levels to darken the image a bit. and finally neat image to remove all the despeckle noise. that's about it.

i know it sounds like a lot of work but besides the magic wand part that took 5 min the rest took less than a minute.

hope that was helpful, i also tried that on the pic of the castle you sent us couple of month ago it worked great, so try that and let me know how it goes,

i was hoping for a higher score but still 30/244 !!! my highest ranking so far, AND i changed the look of the front page of my profile with it :) so i am def. heading in the good direction :)

Hassan, I see they are in the playoffs in the WPL and needless to say, we didn't make it. I don't really care if we win or not but it would be nice to have members that participate occasionally. Are we going to look for some more members?

but for now we have a new member , "neophyte",

i have my phd qualifier in a couple of week so i am super busy , once i am done i will be pm'ing people with d50's and i will make sure to see that they participated in current challenges AND of course willing to participate in upcoming challenges for the WPL.

Hi guys! I thought I'd check in. Let me know What I can do to help. My time is a bit limited but I'll do what I can. Right now most of my "camera time" is spent getting to know the camera. I picked up a 50mm 1.4 to help me with the light issues I'm having with the built in flash.

well from my understanding that lens is awesome for portrait photography, which i am trying to learn, i got a couple of 500W lamps, but i still need to learn how to use them. i am also looking for backdrops.

I think its great for portraits! Here's one from Christmas with a bit of basic editing...

I'm not to good with indoor lighting yet so I opened the shades.

what's really funny is that the D50 is one of the most popular cameras around here on dpc and still we are having problems picking up members, i think bob is right we should start a new thread for Team D50 looking for members.
