Thanks for the comments... getting married this week and things have been busy... but hopefuly I'll have much more time ofterwards to put out some better edited pics... :)

BTW has there been any thought on a logo? wish I had time to do one rather the just talk about it...

Wow! You guys have been busy in here! Between work and school I haven't had much time to sit down and take any pictures. I think I'm pulling the camera out tonight and playing around a bit in the basement. Hopefully I can participate a little more in the upcoming weeks.

This is an oler one from my portfolio, I think it's a great pic anyway, but what would you guys have done iwth it? anything different? anything new? anyhting at all?

10/24/2006 10:30:46 AM · #54

that's my version it looks a bit choppy due to the fact i was working with the image i got of DPC , if you could send us the original file that would be better.

i think the sun looks great , but it's too high and it's creating all the negative space distracting away from the main subject (which i am presuming is the guy with the camera). hence my cropping choice was to remove the sun out of the picture but to keep it's reflection.

cheers,

Actually I'm not sure what I wanted the subject to be... the landscape itself was great (Northwest Territories, Canada in the summer the sun never sets, this was at about 2 in the morning), but then the guy with his camera presented some interest aswell, so my atempt was to cover both... that was the intent anyway... I'll email the file at the end of the day when I return from my day job (much more dull and mindain work... maybe that's what's afecting my photograpghy lately... or maybe it's my impending doom... I mean marriage)

How is everyone doing? My train shot didn't do too well but I guess that's the way it goes. My freestudy is at 5.8. That's pretty good for me. I also have one in Long Exposure.

Free Study isn't doing great... submitted one for Exposure, and have one in mind for neon and reflections (just editing to do...)

Where's everyone else? haven't heard a peep from most of you in a while

I just went out tonight and got one for neon signs. I really like it so that means it will probably do lousy. Mike, did you get the picture I e-mailed you? I've never seen white nights before so that was kind of neat that your picture was taken about 2:00am.

Yes I did get your reply... the crop works but I'm still sad that the sun had to go :( ohy well... maybe I'll go back there this summer and try to recreate it when the suns a bit lower in the sky.

so far my free study is a 5.27, i was not expecting it to do well.
the self portrait and long exposure are both at 5.58, not a great score but better thatn what i was expecting for them.what about you guys?

My only current entry is in the Free Study XIV, sitting at 5.48. Nice to know that it is (at least) average!
One of the things that makes DPC such a great site is that the photographers range from mediocre to consistantly superb, with some seriously good talent participating. The current free study has so many excellent images that my score may not even be in the top 50%!

Here are the two that I currently have in chanllenges. I also have one in Neon Signs which I believe starts at midnight tonight.

well compared to the scores i 've been getting lately 5.2 is great.
i have the ideas but i personally think i am lacking the tools, i am improving but slowly, but for example, when i compare my set for a shot which is my desktop light and myself as a model with people who has professional sets and people helping them set up the lighting, THEN have access to great models , i say a 5,7 or a 6 is great compared to those , considering i did not even take classes whther in photoshop or photography, in the end, my goal here is to learn so let's see where that leads.

long exposure and portrait are still stuck on 5.5.

btw i need a confirmation for participation from everyone concerning the WPL since it's close. if someone can't do it please let me know.

cheers,

I've got one in for Long Exposure... but it's sucking... I don't think anyone realized how much work it took to get the shot I got... oh well... serves me right for trying to capture moving objects...

I have a picture in for Long exposure and neon signs. My current scores are listed below. I really don't have any ideas for Spots or Headgear. I could probably come up with something if no one else does. I'm still in for the team. By the way, where can we see the stats for the contest?

don't worry about it cudjoem, spending a lot of time to get a good image to end up with a bad score happens all the time, but then again that's how we improve , i know it's frustrating. but hopefully we'll be doing better as we go.

i have a couple of ideas for spots and balck and white we'll see how it goes,

i have not gotten any reply from petersih , elgordo or the bryguy. i hope they had something in long exposure other wise our team score is going to be really affected. let's hope for the best.
even if we did not do that well in WPL, i think it will be a good learning experience for us all.
cheers

What did they say it was disqualified for?

I just put one in for Black & White. I think we have to have 4 entries per week. Is that right Hassan?
