anyone try them yet? I wonder how the quality comes out. They are a bit cheaper than mypublisher, and I kind of like the dust jacket idea. What do you guys think?

I am curious too. I keep wanting to order a book but haven't had time. I have seen that place before and it totally looks like a great deal.

I say try it out with personal stuff and this way if it isn't up to par for the public you still have something you can enjoy.

Anyone use winkflash?? I like the dust cover that blurb is offering but like how cheap winkflash is.

I've used mypublisher before. Hated their terrible layout software, but liked the print quality and results.

Blurb seems to have better layout options, but their software is dog slow (even on a dual 2.4GHz AMD system with 3Gb of memory) I liked the dust jacket idea, but I haven't been able to get through a whole layout to get a book printed yet. Would love to hear how it goes.

Meanwhile, I wish I could find some good self-publishing book layout software. Easy to use, quick, plenty of options.

fwiw, I have used mypublisher as well. I like thier books, but they are a little more expensive than blurb, that is why I was thinking of moving over there. I always lay out my pages in Photoshop then import them into the mypublisher software. I likes my control.

Ok, so I'd installed the Mypublisher application before, but never really got to the point of using it. I installed the Blurb and actually used it and ordered a book with the images I've selected for my showcase this weekend. Fairly straight forward. The longest part was uploading what amounted to a 100MB file.

Went back because I saw that Mypublisher has updated it's software and tried to duplicate what I created in Blurb. No contest, the Blurb software is 100 times easier to use if you don't do layout in Photoshop.

7-10 days for the book now, so we'll see in a couple of weeks.

I've used LuLu before a couple of times and so easy and quick. Happy with their product.

Damn! 8.5x11, 40 pages, perfect bound, 1 copy = $10.53! These a third of the price I just paid. lol

All web based and you preview via PDF which is nice. I'll have to try LuLu next time.

I downloaded the software and loaded it up this morning. This stuff looks relatively decent, but I wish it had a little more flexibility with page layout. What would be ultimately cool is being able to design the book and create all of it as a PDF and then get it printed exactly to the specs of our design... I'm gonna give this company a try though... it's gonna take me a while to get my first 'book' ready to print, but when I do I'll order one...

You'll find that with Blurb you CAN resize and reposition within the layouts, so you might be able to find a layout that you can live with. You can even leave images out of layouts to get negative spaces.

Check out Lulu before you go too far. I found it interesting, but I haven't uploaded images yet as I need to resize first or upload overnight to keep from hogging me internet connection for 2 hours.
