Anyone interested in forming a “Generation X” Team for WLP? Generation X, according to the definition in Wikipedia, are those born between the years of 1961-1981.
Hey, if I’m not good enough to be on someone’s team I’ll form my own!!! Unless of course no one replies to this…hmmm….

There are a few members waiting to be on a team under the photographers list at the wpl3 participants page. You can PM them and see.

when all of you get your team together go to the sign-up page (listed in my signature area and on my profile page) and submit your team. Don't forget to pick your team SLOT number.

| I've sent some PM's to those who showed some interest in this thread. Let me know ASAP if you would like to be in and I'll take head count. I'm thinking we are at 4 with those here saying they want in and 5 if one of the others on the waiting list shows interest. |

For those here who indicated they want to be on a team but don’t know why, here is some information the way I see it.
Basically this whole “League” thing works like professional sports. You put together a team and then someone creates a schedule for the teams to compete against each other head to head each week. This league uses the scores obtained in challenges on DPChallenge but is independent of it. Your team members enter challenges on DPChallenge every week and then take the highest four scores from your team and compare them to the highest four scores of the team you matched up against that week. The highest average of the scores wins and that team gets a win while the other team gets a loss for the week. At the end of five weeks the best win/loss records move on to playoffs and ultimately a super bowl (photobowl) to determine the best team.
Why do we do this? It gives us another way to compete…to gloat…to brag…to strive for excellence…you know, whatever personally motivates you. I imagine that team members are more closely in touch with each other forming a sense of community, contacting each other weekly or even daily, encouraging each other to get a photo submitted in the next challenge, giving each other tips, etc. After all, the more of us that enter the better our chances are of getting 4 good scores.
What this means however is that successful teams will probably have a few dead ringers…i.e. people proven to consistently score in the 7’s or very high 6’s. Some teams have 5 or 6 members who have lots of ribbons and 7+ scores. If we have a whole team of members who have never broken 7 we’re toast right off the bat. Still, I imagine it’s fun to try and I think we can have a lot of fun.
If you choose to join this team please plan to commit to entering photos every week. We’ll need every one of us submitting weekly to give us the best chance. If you don’t think you have time to submit something once a week then reconsider your offer to join. I don’t care if you have great scores…just submit something and really make an effort…that’s all I would ask. And please, PLEASE hope that a dead ringer or two wants to help us out (someone who scores in the 7’s regularly). If not…we’ll give it our best effort without 'em.
If I function as team captain I’ll set up a website for us and facilitate us all communicating regularly.

pretty certain that WPL3 won't start until at least a week after WPL2 is totally finished. Definitely not until WPL2 ends. So, you are pretty safe I think. I'll also be away... Oct 6th-15th.

| Teams don't have to be finalized until Oct 9th so if you're back by then there is no way the league starts before that. I'd love to have your on our team ladyhawk22! |

Ok, "Generation X" has been submitted with the participants listed above in this thread. HOWEVER...we had more people request to be in the group than can fit and I accidently confirmed individuals from this thread before checking my email where I saw others had already asked to be on the team (sorry to those who sent me an email I missed). Those on the list right now are a lock (i.e. I will not bump you for someone else), HOWEVER, if you are on the team list and question your ability to submit at least a photo a week or think that you "might not" have time, please carefully re-consider your choice to be on the team and let me know ASAP so we can replace you if you are uncertain. Again, those on the list as I had it before are locked in but moves in our "roster" are allowed up to the last minute on the 9th (from the way I understand it). If something comes up and you want on another team or decide you don't have time, let me know VERY soon so I can get some of the other offers while they are hot.
To those who I didn't confirm please accept my sincere apologies! I will notify you immediately if an opening comes up. |

| Glad to be on Team Generation X. Seems we have a variety of photo skills, cameras, ages and nationalities. With so much going in our favour how can we go wrong!!! |
