Excellent shot of the sky and landscape. The barn is unfortunate there, because it's actually only half showing, and seems a bit too small to be a part of the landscape. You might even consider just cloning it out.

I like the picture... I don't think it would rate nearly as high with me if the barn was not part of the shot! Why don't you (nshapiro) like the barn in the shot, I think it kind of makes it!

Clouds... that's it!! atleast that's what seems more prominent in the picture. Good work though. Keep it up. I envy all you guys who live in such beautiful places.

Well, I just offered a subjective opinion. My eyes are drawn to the barn, which is good, but there's not much there to see. On the other hand, I can see how not having it there might be too barren a landscape. So from the "overall" balance and aesthetics, it may be better there.

My suggestion of cloning it out was probably not as good as David Levin's: to move closer or somehow include more of the barn. But I sometimes shy away from offering reshoot advice, because often that's not practical.

In shots like these, I find it helpful to have something in the frame that is close to the lens to help with perspective. A weed pod, grass blades, tree limb, leaves, etc. As I wasn't there, it is possible that in order to get the barn and the expanse of sky, there wasn't any plant material available to help with perspective.

I think this is an example of a picture that does not do justice to the sight beheld by the photographer. I'm certain that at the time, it was one of those WOW moments that one says, "this is a great picture", but when developed it just doesn't have the same pizzazz. Good, not great.

I appreciate all the comments. Thank you all. After looking at it agian, I have to agree with Flash that it is good, but not great.

Fortunately, it's not too far out of the way that I can't drive by again for another attempt. Actually, I did just that on the way in to work this morning. Maybe I'll post the new shots if they are a significant improvement.

While I agree about the foreground, the only thing there was a weedy ditch and it looked atrocious when not cropped out.

there you go - todays "storm" is well done - it brings me into it more so than yesterdays barn. Closer to the "subject" and the stronger atmospheric element make for a good pic. nice work.

Much stronger photo. More emotion. Nice perspective.

This is much better! I really like the contrasting colors, and especially the two tones in the grass. Good range in the sky as well. Very nice.

I liked "BARN" very much. I'm a sucker for big sky and fencepost photography. But STORM is much better. Proportions work better and I love that low sun lighting you get first thing in the morning and last thing at night. magical.
