Well you can say that i have not had the best runs in the challenge scores. I don't care if I get 4's 3's etc, but it would be nice if people would place a comment and tell me why i only deserved a 3. If nobody tells me what i am doing wrong then im going to keep getting these lower scores.

Maybe I'm missing something but you have only entered one challenge so how does that make a "run" of low scores? That one challenge you seem to have gotten a lot of comments. Do you have other entries going currently?

Isn't there anything in the 7 comments that gives you a hint where you coulda done better?

7 is a fairly respectable number of comments, all things considered, oodles of folks are happy to get even 3!

Maybe once the voting is over you can post your entry and see if folks can give additional information.

From the shot in your portfolio (with 24 comments) the consensus is that you have a problem with a) dof, b) image sharpness, c) image size and d) dullness/lack of emotion.

b and c can be addressed in photoshop (or whatever you use)
concentrate on d would be my recommendation, people are a lot more forgiving of a photograph which 'speaks' but has a few technical difficulties.

I made a few comments in the Free Study, including my 2 3 and 4 scores. They were mostly not marked helpful, and I even got a hostile email from one angry photographer. I won't be commenting on those votes again.

Well many of us who start out here have all started with low scores. Even if someone is a professional photographer, they can still score low at DPC. When I dont receive comments on a low scoring image i usually know why since i have been here for awhile and know what it takes to score a 5+. I cant really tell from looking at your one entry if you have a certain style of photography but if you decide to shoot something in particular, do a search for other photographs like the one you want to do and see how it was done. Check out the settings they used, the crop, post-processing (if available), and also see what angle was used. All of this is very important in taking a photograph and its the easiest way to learn to do it yourself if nobody is leaving you comments. Some of the more skilled members here also offer learning threads where you can practice different types of photography. They have been very helpful. Good luck with your learning :)
