I found a great deal on the Nikon D200 with 2 lenses (BRAND NEW) for only $710.00!!! I'm debating on selling one of my D70's and snagging it up.

Is that a stupid idea? or should I go for it? What could I sell my D70 for?

I'm so confused.
:)

WOW! That's a steal. Be careful. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If it's a real deal and there's nothing wrong with it, get it before someone else does.

WHERE? If you don't buy it I will.

The deal sounds too good to be true. The D200's are still selling for 1800 new and are in somewhat short supply. If the deal is real however- Go for it! I love mine. I was just out for a few hours in pouring rain and I didn't feel at all worried about my D200 getting hurt. It can take a beating, get wet, everything, and it takes better shots than I can on top of that! If you already have multiple D70's, you shouldn't be asking us. You should be buying it.

If you can verify that the sellers are the real deal you'd be crazy not to buy it.

But I have seen lots of threads in the past with ppl who have come unstuck and lost a lot of money to dodgy dealers, be carefull!

if the deal is correct.. and not a rip off.. i'd say HELL YES!!! sounds too good to be true... but if thats the case and its legit...
you'd be nuts to let it go by..

in my humble opinion ;)

I would be very cautious, I got a deal on my D200 Body only $1500+ Tax 2Gig card included. From the same camera store I have purchased all my cameras. This is a hard to beat price for most places. $710 seems a bit unreal. Better do some serious research before you purchase.

I saw a similar deal in the trading post here in Australia which was for AU$1250, brand new in the box. I thought the same as you "wow what a great deal" and went off to check my savings account.
It was advertised in the local trading post with a email address - so I emailed the seller to see if I could have a look. Really you dont advertise in the trading post unless you are willing to let people look at the product.

"I am in Romania for some bussiness i am not in Australia. The camera is here. Has 2 year warranty international from nikon. Delivery will be made from here. Shipping and assurance will be paid by me.
Here how we can do the deal :
I will make delivery trough Global Express ( www.euroglobal-express.com ) . After i make delivery you make payment to them. Money are held by them until you recieve and inspect the camera. After that they send money to me. This way we are both protected I will be waiting your email .

I googled the name of the delivery company and came up with lots of stories about people losing their money. They have a really professional website but you never see your money or the product again.

At such a low price you can be sure that it's a similar scam (if not exactly the same one)

It's from Cameta Camera.

Even though, it's an ebay auction, I still think it's a steal. There was one that they had a buy it now for for $710 yesterday... I didn't realize it went off. :(

Even their price of $1585 isn't bad.

Damn, wish I would've just did it yesterday!

Oh well!

I've been waiting and waiting for what eventually became the D80. I was really hoping for AI support (I even went to Olympus to get the most of my older Nikon glass a week before the D200 was announced). Well since the D80 lacked AI support and had SD cards I finally bought a D200 (B&H) that arrived yesterday.

I can finally fall back in love with Nikon. But I have a ton of testing to see what lenses work well with the D200...

Hey a affordable Nikon with the mirror lock up...

Ok - I'm wrong. Their prices are pretty good, I'll have to bookmark them.

But then convert currency, add shipping and importing fees and its pretty close to buying from an aussie seller. But it's all academic at the moment cause I don't have the money to spend on a D200. I think I'll just sae up for a 3DX
