Hi,

I hope anyone can help me. In two weeks I need to give a presentation about a photographer and his work for a course I'm taking at the moment. A while ago I browsed the internet and stumbled on a photographer whos work I really liked, but can't for the life of me remember his name. He (or she) shoots mostly domestic scenes, which always seem a bit contrived. Usually there are several people on them, and the ones on the foreground are always cropped in a weird way (only showing the legs and a piece of newspaper or so). The people are always doind some trivial thing, like reading, knitting or hanging painting their nails. The colors are sharp, but always a bit toned down, and the contrast is rather high. I always get a surreal feeling when looking at those pictures.

One picture I can remember vividly: there are four or five people on them, one of them is knitting or so. The scene is on some porch, and there is a child hanging over a low wall, looking away. There is one person in the foreground with his back to the camera reading a newspaper, cropped in such way that you only see his legs and the headlines of the paper.

Does anyone know of which photographer I'm talking?

Shelby Lee Adams isn't it. HIs (her) photos are very posed, whereas the photos I'm talking about look like a glimpse in a day to day affair; models hardly ever look directly into the lens. Thanks for the suggestion though, because I love those photos :)

Dang. Another one of those "Boy Named Sue" kind of things.

I prolly should have scoured the site I saw his work on for an "About the Artist" section.
