Has anyone used a product like Genuine Fractals to generate very large prints, or to greatly enlarge a portion of an image?

I am toying around with some ideas and would like to get any feedback on this or similar software.

Thanks

From everything that I have read, you are better off letting the printer uprez your photos, they have better hardware and software.

If you're on PC, get IrfanView and use the Lanczos upres option.
And only ever upres by 1.33x or 1.5x. Can't remember why... just do it.

EDIT: Oh, and yeah, you can let your printer do it. Make sure you only ever do it by multiples of your printers NATIVE dpi, not the 5.4 bajillion dpi that is on the retail box.

I tried Genuine Fractals, and found that PS 9 does a better job with the bicubic method. When upsizing I use "bicubic sharper", and I use "bicubic smoother" for downsizing. The biggest I resized was increasing the resolution about 2.5 times.
