My grandchildren's PE teacher/coach was struck and killed by lightning today. She was at a soccer game, cheering on the team. A grey cloud blew in, and as people were heading to their cars, it struck. Twenty three others, including children were injured also as they witnessed the bolt enter through her head, and out her body to the ground. She had taught at the school for 16 years.

That is so horrible! :( The kids who were there must be so hurt and confused. Extra special prayers go out to all who were affected by this!

One of the freaky things about this is that there was no rain, nor thunder. Weather records indicate that there were only 3 lightning hits in the county Saturday. There were 7-9 soccer games going on in the complex, all children. By all accounts, it came out of no where.

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to all the families involved and especially to your own grandchildren. Traumas like this are not easily forgotten. Blessings to you all.

My thoughts also go out to you and yours, and the family of the strucken teacher. I had a similar freak thing happen when I was in High School (I lost the best teacher I ever had) and know what it is like to have a teacher, someone you look up to and held high in the community, taken away from you suddenly and unexpectedly.

In my Junior year in HS my honors math teacher (also the baseball coach) was refereeing a scrimage (practice session) from behind the pitcher where he could see the whole field. One of the batters hit a line drive towards the pitcher that struck Coach Adams in the temple. He was in a coma for three days then passed away. I to this day wonder if the kid that hit the ball ever recovered from that experience...
