I have just bought myself the new Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX DG HSM Macro, based on good reviews.

BUT when I am starting to shoot with it i get strange chromatic effekts in high contrast areas ouside the DOF. IS my example bad or is it supposed to be like this????

I think its annoying and in some cases the bokeh looks like crap!!!

The effects are most apparent when shooting 200mm@2.8 but noticeable all the way up to f6.5 or something.

100% crop with "chromatic bokeh"
' . substr('//www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=768189', strrpos('//www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=768189', '/') + 1) . '

Red abberation in highlights behind the DOF
' . substr('//www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=757888', strrpos('//www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=757888', '/') + 1) . '
(Crop is about 850 pixels wide, i.e. 1/5 of the image, so this is clearly visible)

Blue abberation in highlights in front of DOF
' . substr('//www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=757889', strrpos('//www.fotosidan.se/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=757889', '/') + 1) . '
In all other situations the lens is perfectly sharp.
Inside the DOF the lens is also perfectly sharp with no abberation.

???? Help! Anyone who would like to do some referens shots with their sample of this lens. Could there be a differens between the macro and the non-macro version.

It would be interesting to know if that's a characteristic of the lens. If it is, it makes it much less attractive. Perhaps the only way to really find out is to try another copy...
