I am on my son's quarterback club this year and was thinking about raising money by taking pictures on Friday nights and selling them to the parents after the game. The funds would go to the football team. Has anyone done this? Is there any major legalities involved? I know I need access and permission to the field which is a done deal. Do I need any permits or licenses, since this will be for a nonprofit organization. Thanks.

Urro,

From my understanding of how things work in the US you would be fine if the money is going to the team, and they're not pro.

As long as you are only paid to cover any direct costs, as a re-imbersement it's all fine.

I imagine the only problem you might have if there is a pro already working the field for the team, or the other team. They may not be too happy about someone else working the field and possibly undercutting them..

Just my 2c worth..

Hi, I was thinking of doing something along the same lines with little league baseball, shooting and selling action shots. But my hope was to make some money for myself and also give the league a certain percentage. I win, they win and the parents win. This would all be worked out with the league directors ahead of time of course...access to the field and no competing photographers. Are there legalities that I should be aware of since I'm try to profit from this?
