My favorite quote is from this related article:

"If you have caught fire, call 911, leave the house quickly, and then call 866-342-0011. Operators will be glad to assist you with the battery side of things, but can't do much about the fire because most are 11 time zones or so away."

It's for real. Has been on national news all day. If you have a Dell laptop you need to visit their website and find out if your battery is one of the exploding ones.

Not necessarily - it may not be the same battery size that is used in the Vaios

it is the manufacturing process of the batteries that is the problem. sony makes almost, if not, all of the cells for dell's batteries as well as making a portion of their battery packs. sony also makes the battery cells for many other companies but they have not reported nearly as many problems as dell.

but i believe dell sells the most laptops, so i hope they are looking at the figures as percentages and not # of incidents

...as i type away on my VAIO

Well, I have a Dell, and a couple of times I've closed it up into suspention mode and it didn't quite suspend. The last time was just this past Sunday. Luckily my wife heard something strange in my laptop backpack. I could barely touch the bastard it was so hot!

Surprisingly, it still works.

This is of extra concern to me, as at the moment I am typing this post on my laptop, and I am only wearing a T-shirt. What if the battery exploded and melted my Johnson?

Glad Sony isn't reporting the same issue with the VIOAs because my old Vaio has been running for three weeks straight without a reboot and it lives mostly at the side of my bed.

o_o

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook.
Now I'm scared it'll explode on me.

Mostly because I never shut it off unless I absolutely have to.

I use a Dell Latitude as well. Time to check the serial numbers, people!

Is it true that the new Adobe Photoshop CS2, only bugs out with a Dell computer?

Just wondering if any Dell users have the same problem.

I'm trying to picture you wearing only a t-shirt which covers your Johnson... I don't think I want to picture that...

And there was a recall on HP batteries too, awhile back. Mine wasn't one of the exploding types, though it will get warm!

Well I actually found Adobe's reply to the photoshop CS2 Dell problem. //www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/324609.html

Apparently only some Dells do it.. some electrical problem.
A very annoying and frustrating problem..

No problem, sir. Call 866-342-0011 and our operators would be happy to replace your Johnson with a Woody free of charge.

My sister has a dell laptop, ever since we heard of the recall this morning I'm paranoid that I'll look out to see my living room burning. And then I'll have no where to sit.

Trust me on this. Manufatures only report a problem like this when it is cheaper to recall than absorb the lawsuits. And sony is taking full responsibility
