I've got this idea from a nother thread :-) (Judi)

What picture in your portfolio do you like the most and why?
If you change your mind someday or when you add a new picture that you like better, add the picture to this thread too.

I love the colours of this one and I am happy about the editing results.

My favorite shot isn't in my portfolio here, but I'm sure I'll add it eventually. Until then, this is my favorite.

Wow...thanks Gunnsi. I actually started a similiar thread a while ago. But I have since added another fave to my collection.

Here is my first one.

Wide Open Spaces

This image may not look much. It may look very simple and plain. But this image means more to me than any other image I have ever uploaded.

You see, this is my oldest son. He is 7 years old. For the first five years of his life he had virtually no hearing at all. It took five years of pleading for help before someobdy listened and when they took action. he heard almost for the first time in his life.

He heard noises he had never heard before. A simple ambulance siren previously would send him screaming into the house....noises hurt him badly. We couldn't go to fireworks, have smoke alarms or even wash the windows. It would hurt him.

And then finally someone listened to my please and he could hear for the first time. His head nearly fell off with turning to all these new sounds in the world around him. He previously never had friends and was beaten up daily by other boys because of his problem. He wouldn't dance, but instead would fall down in a crying heap. He couldn't hop on one leg. He was always falling down. He wouldn't get up in front of people....because he couldn't hear them. If I ever went to a performance by his class he would sit on the ground and not move. The school had to sneak me in and hide me so I could see a bit of the performance...but he always knew and wouldn't perform with his class. It would break my heart to see him just scrunched up in a heap. He couldn't handle wide open spaces or playing with other children.

The day I took this photo I was photographing the children playing. Nikolas did something he was proud of. He didn't know I was watching him. He started dancing and I caught it on camera. He was singing and dancing his steps in the light of the rising sun. He was happy. He had the world at his feet. He is now the top of his class.

We now have to get him fixed every few months.....but it is worth it.

This photo makes me happy.

And here is my second one.

Pardner

A lot of you don't realise that I have a partner in my wedding photography. He works underground with my hubby and is my big pussycat. He really looks after me and although he knows I can handle myself, he always seem to watch over me. The look in his eyes makes me feel safe. And this is an image I did of him one day when we were playing around in the garage. I replaced the background to a sky image of mine and then converted to BW and added the border. This image says so much to me.

I just love this picture, can't really say why but it just makes me go "WOW" I have a 48x12 of it that I got matted and framed and it's just mindblowing.

Possibly my all time fav pic. And only one of two pictures that I have chosen which hang on the walls of the house. I have also entered it at other sites, in other competitiions, and it never seems to do very well. So ... I have come to the conclusion that what I like is not what others like ... and I will leave it at that.

This is a slightly differently processed version of the original that was entered in my very first challenge, Bored. And after that score I thought that challenges were easy. What did I know?

Other than my recent fireworks photos, which I had been waiting almost a year to take using that special technique, I guess this one:

Lake Chuzenji, in The Nikko National Park. I wish I could spend more time there. Actually, I hope to go up there this week or next.

This one is my all time favorite! I know, technicaly it has some serious flaws, but its my babies. Its one of my first portfolio entrys here and its a photo of what i love to see and my favorite sound in the whole world.Thier laugh. They were so serious looking when I was trying to get this picture, I had to do something! So I tickled them with my feet as I snapped away.

This was one of the first pictures that I took the day that I got my D70, my first DSLR. This is picture number DSC0091.

I had not yet heard of DPC and I didn't know much at all about photography. After all that I have learned now, I realize how lucky I was to have taken this shot.

I used to keep this image in my portfolio at home because I thought it was one of my best, but after spending some time on DPChallenge, I became very critical of the loss of detail in some blown out areas. I took it out of my portfolio and always looked to replace it sometime.

I sometimes go through old shots to see if my developing photoshop skills can revive a shot that just didn't quite have it. I decided to try this one again to see if I could bring down the blown out areas of the lowest leaves and keep some detail in the rest of the flower. I'm glad I did.

This isn't the best picture I have taken, but I love it because it reminds me of when I was a little girl. I played in creeks all the time. My mother also made all of my dresses, and even though I had many cousins and a brother, I always felt alone.

While technically not my best picture, I always love looking at this. I could post a couple more and they would all be family shots.

This is my Mammaw, at my house in Maine, In June.
Although these are not the best technically, they are two of my favorites. My Mammaw, mom, and daughter were playing cards on the porch. I grabbed my camera, and started shooting. This was just weeks before we found out how sick my Mammaw is. I will always treasure these, even with the flaws, because emotionally to me they are perfect.

Tammy

Edited for spelling cause I need more coffee.

Judi, I'm very curious to know what they found your son's problem to be. That photo truly is priceless knowing the story behind it.

I only knew this girl a couple of hours when I took this shot and there was something in her eyes and behaviour that really touched my soul.

You're welcome. When you want to link to a picture, you can copy the first line beneath your picture. If I'm not mistaken there are 3 lines beneath your picture which are Url, Tag and Img.
