I am thinking about getting an Olympus Evolt-500(the one that comes with 2 lenses) along with an 1gb memory card, extra battery and a wireless remote. I have two questions the first is I am thinking of ordering these from B&H is this a safe and reliable way? The second is is there anything else that would be good to get at the same time? I know it is going to take some time to learn to use it but I am ready for the challenge

getting from B&H should be fine. I have gotten a couple of things from them but not the camera itself. Get a flash. Best thing I could have done. I don't hardly ever use the pop up flash. And you'll love the camera. I love mine.

Maybe add a nice sturdy tripod and you're pretty much set. Circular polarizer would be future purchase if you don't get one now.

I would also look into a camera bag, I have the Lowepro Nova2, it fits 3 lens and a FL36 flash...

I've got one of those! I love the camera, I ordered mine up through NewEgg without any issue, but I'm not sure how that compares price wise to B&H. Anyhow, I ended up buying an extra battery from Best Buy, it wasn't an Olympus battery, but it seems to work just as well and it was about 1/2 the price (I think it was $30 if I remember right). Battery life on this camera seems good (200-300 pictures I'd say, depending on how much you use flash), but if you're on a vacation without the charger the extra battery would be worth it. I also got a Circular Polarizer, one of the best purchases I made for the camera.

I just ordered my E-500 last Sunday through B&H and it came as promised on Thursday. I would recommend B&H!
