While it has been suggested at least in one thread I saw by Fibre Optix, I think a Traffic Congestion challenge would be fun.

I saw BradP's post in one thread this evening:

It stirs such a range of emotions when we see these images - frustration, awe, unbelief, wasted-time, and sometimes the memories of past experiences from areas we once frequented.

I second the motion.

Great idea.

I moved to the U.P. partly to get away from such a sight.....I really don't want to have to drive back downstate just to get a shot of it. I think I'll sit this one out if it materializes

Ummm...does a snail overtaking a leaf qualify for traffic congestion.

Where I live it takes 5 minutes to get from one side of town to the other...and that is in peak hour...we don't have any traffic lights, but we do have about 7 roundabouts!! I live about 3 hours from the nearest traffic lights.

We have a commercial here in the US that makes fun of traffic congestion in the Bahama's - its hilarious.

This sounds like an interesting challenge. I am concerned (tongue-in-cheek) that it will exclude way too many DPCr's from being able to enter. You know, those that live in the country or remote locations that don't have much for 'Traffic Congestion'. It' not fair to exclude people you know. ;^)

Here's a case where a liberal rather than literal interpretation of the topic should be considered ... a supermarket as a busy shopping time will have a traffic jam of carts in the front ... a bunch of newborn kittens tumbling over each other to get at mom ... (as was already mentioned) three dogs with two feeding dishes ... a line at the bank or Post Office ... I think it's way past time we put more of an emphasis on creative interpretation and composition and less on technical perfection.

I agree wholeheartedly, and actually prefer your title "Traffic Jam" too. I have been trying to see like that when I am out taking pictures, even for myself - "creative interpretation and composition" - I think this challenge has amazing possibilities (and not because I chose it :P ).

remove the word "congestion" and keep it only at "traffic", or maybe to be more specific, "road traffic" and we could be looking at a fun challenge here :)

Cool - I guess the new exclusive Open challenge this week - "Transportation II" kinda meets this one. Yeah!
