Yet another psuedo-intellectual comment.

(And I didn't have to look "Luddite" up. As a matter of fact, Tom Servo in an MST3K episode says, "Ahhhhh....he's a Luddite." as the protagonist beats a spaceship control panel with an empty revolver.)

You may have to look up MST3K

I hardly have to look up MST3K, maybe you should switch off the TV and stop filling your mind wth drivel.

I don't know what to say in these threads when they pop up every so often, mostly because image manipulation has been around since the first images were recorded on light sensitive materials. I don't mean just a little tweak here and there, but significant changes that affect the image to a large degree or alter it entirely.

The rantings of so-called "photo-purists" are really just nonsense. This one is no exception.

If you don't like it, perhaps photography is not your medium, maybe you should try something different.

Funny... the only "rantings" I have read have been yours. A true sign of a person who thinks they know more than they do. Every other person who has taken up words against me refrained from name calling and belittling comments... and we get a long just fine. Nice to see you can balance your intellect with your restraint. How do you know I don't do something else? If it is all about fun and doing what we like...

.... why are you so agitated? I will not change your mind and you will not change mine... so next time... just pass on by. Don't bother to drop a comment. You are just wasting your time.

Horses with antlers... horses with antlers....

IF his thread annoys you...Don't open it???????

MOST, photographers I know, ENJOY learning about others, what motivates them, where they are "coming from" etc etc etc.

It's a thread not an artery..you can live with it or without it. Seems to me your sweating the small stuff...if it annoys you, why read it and stress yourself?

seems to me the man is real, has family values, and is knowledgable about the things that interest him.... I'm impressed with those that are PP guru's and wish I had time to learn PP adequately...sure the majority would like to be proficient in pre thru post...some of us just old, never had access to, and like the HOBBY and like LEARNING about others...

zen...find zen honey and don't sweat it!!!! ;-)

I don't give a rat's hind-end if you can move and manipulate and shift and coloUr and tint and bend and highlight... and make a pic what could NEVER exist in the real world. I don't want anyone to respond to this if they think PS or any other post shot production software is a gift from Heaven. I want to meet people who hold true to nature and light and angles... and photography as an art to be discovered; not invented. If you are of like mind, drop a line here kidney_pie@hotmail.com and share your work with me. If you are of the mold who thinks it is ok to manipulate and change and create because it is easier than looking, and thinking and working out the problems...don't even bother to respond. I will not reply and I really don't care what you have to say... I am looking for those who still find photography a challenge and a skill... if you do more than crop, resize and post... I will not reply. Come on folks... those of you who understand showing a photo rather than creating and manipulating one... drop me a line...

If this isn't a rant, I don't know what is.

Anyway, I'll leave you to your spot under the bridge.

Sigh, I miss the good old days... Just another trip down memory lane. Is it crazy that I think about this thread from time to time? Hahaha

I started reading it thinking it was a new thread and wondering who this guy was. I was ready to hit the spam button when I noticed the date. I don't think it's too much different from some of the debates that currently go on.

Nawwww....'cause often we turn the camera to get a view... then have to rotate it to get the balance. And many do not look at the horizon... so it has to be set straight.

Hogswallop! If you can't be bothered to level your camera, then you should be prepared to accept the results.

Splitting hairs is what you are doing. Either it's okay to change anything in post, or it's okay to change nothing. Hell, you should be shooting on Polaroid so that your artistic vision is forever unsullied by a computer or darkroom, and you can be a pure photographer, secure in the knowledge that you are capturing nature as it really is.

Thanks for this. I so love replying to a 6 year old thread.
