So about a year ago I got my one & only DQ in Perspectives II. My shot was called 'Repose'. I wasn't thinking and edited the shot as if it were member challenge and didn't realize my mistake until the DQ. Water under the bridge.

Now, much experience later... Perspectives III comes up and I HAD to avenge my honor. The 'reshoot' called 'Repose II' is a re-pose with the same model, same idea (modified) and yes same studio floor. I was uber careful with the shooting this time around, since I've learned sooooo much in the last year AND uber careful with the editing. So imagine the bullets I sweated when this one got validation request a few days ago!!

Anyhow - here is idnic's revenge - for what its worth... I feel better now :)

Haha... Your model had to pose again- you could say she had to "re-pose" for the second repose!

Ha ha ha ha... I crack myself up...

I need to head over to the bar thread.

I dunno - There is something about the first one that I prefer to the second. I looked at them a bit and I think it's the crossed feet in the second and possibly the shape of the dress vs. the cleaner lines of the jeans. Both are nice and I can see a more polished finish in the second.

So, uh, you're going to bottle that "change over time" thing and make it available inexpensively to DPC members, right?

Agreed, also the hands above the head. Quality of the second shot is better but the pose and dress of the first one did give better perspective. Looking forward to Repose III in Perspective IV where you combine the best of both. :)

Definetely an improvement. I like the change in the pose; I think the elbows and skirt form a repeating shape that adds to the photo. I also like the addition of the subtle color in the background. Any chance you want to share a little about your setup and spot processing to achieve that effect?

I remember seeing this and immediately thinking 'o no not another gratuitously included lightly clad binti', before blinking and seeing that it is in fact a perspective shot. It's a class entry.

And the year's improvement? Thanks for giving us hope.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I'm as surprised as anyone by the difference between the two shots. I knew my work had improved but hadn't actually reshot an old idea before for a head to head comparison. Its really fun!

The set up? Not much to it really. Studio floor with white seamless paper backdrop. 3 strobes - One with softbox aimed almost straight down on her from the right, one behind and above me for fill and one lighting the background to keep it bright white. Processing included bumping contrast a bit and adjusting levels; hue/sat to punch up the green color and unsharp mask. That gave me a nice result, but it was a little dull looking, so - added a Warming filter for that pink-ish tone that Rikki doesn't like. I like the pink cast because its such a nice contrast to the very very cool green. Then once I'd resized to DPC-size I gave it a rather strong-handed pass with Neat Image for that soft glowy look (that only worked on this image because there is no facial features showing - would look horrible otherwise). Viola. Nothing heroic. :)

Taylor may be 46 before Repose CXII wins a ribbon - but I'm persistant! ;)

Sweet revenge it is miss cindi. i do like taylor's pose in the first shot. it creates a more dramatic linear composition. however the second one is oh so tack sharp and sweet. i guess you didlearn something over the last year.

:)
