So what did I do? I grabbed my camera, of course.

This little guy was hard to manipulate, as all he wanted to do was climb back down the blades of grass while I try to get a shot off. Tell me what you think of my best attempt:

Looks really good, you should have entered it into the insects challenge. I especially like the purple flower in the background, very nice contrast with the green. Overall nice capture!

I wish I could've. Alas, insects is a members only challenge. Couple things about it that bug me (no pun intended) are the blade of grass crossing in front of it, and how its head is bending around the back side of the blade it's on.

Thanks for your comments.

What lens did you use? Did you shoot this with the Canon Powershot?

Wow! That's an amazing angle. Any idea what kind of spider that is?

I used my close up set (+7 total) on my A70 at 3x magnification.

Yes, it is. Although it has twelve 'legs,' only six of them are fully functional. Also, they change into butterflies or moths, which are insects.

I like it, particularly the colours. Unfortunately, as you've pointed out, the blade of grass gets in the way and spoils it somewhat. Could you have moved it out of the way?

Since I didn't enter my caterpillars, here is one and here is the other.

Hairy! I like the second one better for the green background.

I tried to get everything as good as possible. Just as this little guy turned (mostly) the way I wanted him and I focused, the grass fell in the way. Forlorne, the torments of photography.
