I (man) used a sling bag for some time but it gave me neck and shoulder problems due to the one sided load. I switched to the Lowepro Flipside Trek BP 250 AW and this is the best ever for me. A compartiment reachable from the outside like with a sling bag, large enough for my Nikon D7100 and accessories, separate compartimenten for clothing, food , papers, etc, plenty of straps, side pockets, weatherproof, not too big, comfortable . Just perfect.
