alright let's try again...

Title:
Recreational Body Modification

Description:
Take a photo that creatively showcases some sort of recreational body modification. Examples of this would be tattoos, piercings, branding and subdermal implants. Breast implants and all other genetalia modification, with the exception of nipple piercings will result in DQ.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say, I bet more people would prefer to see yours than mine :-)

oh and for those of you who are unfamiliar with subdermal implants here's an example.

Yes how about a "recreational body modification" challenge.

Nicely put, IMO. Results could be very pleasing.

Land of a million breast implants? Ugh!

World of a thousand penis pumps, perhaps?

That's a Degrassi episode, as I recall...

Yes, the character of J. T. at his finest!

I know why I know it, but I am a little frightened that you know that... ;-)

Perfectly acceptable as it's not genetalia. But it's also not an example of a subdermal implant either.

I know ;-)

I was just in awe about what you can get pierced ;-)

and this is probably the piercing i'm most interested right now... One of the only to go inside the body cavity. Almost nobody will do it, and I hear you can't move your arm for a few weeks. Probably won't ever get one but I think it's really cool.

edit: it's called a subclavical because it goes underneith the bone 8-)

Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. That is seriously disturbing.

It's not so much what people will do to their body that disturbs me -- but where they will have it done and by who! Seriously, do you think there is a reason a docter spends so much time learning about the body before they are allowed to touch one?

This is the strangest body modification I have ever seen -- Windows Media Video. <-- WARNING - very graphic!

It made my wife get up and leave the room. It's not the modification that gets me, it's where it is being done. The infections and such he is likely to get from where he choose to have it done are likely to destroy it. But maybe that's part of the appeal ("look what I survived") that I will likely never understand.

For us who are squeamish and don't want to watch the video, could you tell us where?

(I'm squeamish but curious)

its jsut a cutting on the back. is that the wrong video? I used to be a "cutter" so I know i'm not so squeamish but I dont get whats so bad about that area.

Not the body part, the room (or lack of one).

Think beauty salon with someone slicing up a persons skin in one of the chairs -- no private sterile room, people walking by, bored person spinning in a chair while waiting.

man that video looks like it hurt! He was conscious too, i wonder what kind of pain killers they gave him if any.

that subclavical I linked too before is a hole through about an inch of flesh under the clavical bone through the body cavity. It's done with a straight needle not a bent one. It's also risky because some people's lungs can come up all the way up to the bone, which is why it's usually done towards the sides of the body rather than the center. Interestingly it's reported to be reletively painless, and with almost no bleeding.

I already showed mine :P

it's a person with a design being "scarred" into their back. pretty sick stuff. wonder what they do to stem the loss of blood? I think it's the way that the "artist" looked totally non-plussed to me. Like he does it every day. course, maybe he does. gives me the willies.

I love that this challenge suggestion has been made!
I probably wouldn't photograph my tatts for a challenge (I currently have two - with two more coming in 3 weeks & another large one in October).

But I have so many friends that have ink - and I have become obsessed with it (have plans for many - when money is available) - I am thinking of doing a photo study on tattoos - collecting a portfolio of them.

Can't wait to see if this challenge happens.

I've got one tattoo. Got this one in the US ( in St. George, Utah ) a couple of years ago by the way. I also have my tongue pierced. Don't know what I was thinking when I decided to take that piercing *lol*

Sounds like a fun challenge to me.

It's amazing to me that you came all the way from the Netherlands and got a tattoo in St. George, UT.

Oh, and sign me up for the INK challenge! ;)
