I knew I should have left this challenge to the Americans!

You mean you used an uber long telephoto lens and shot across from BC? Wow!

Yeah, with my lil P&S :P (smartass )
Though actually we CAN see one US city from here, might have been able to see their fireworks... never tried!

I finally got myself an Update button and my first vote was a 6.0000 and my score has dropped to a 5.333 in the first 40 minutes.

And now 3 averaging 3.5...
That's it, time for a challenge break!

BeeCee you better not take a break! You have GREAT photos and a wonderful portfolio! Don't let this get you down buddy! I thought my Motion Blur was good and it went down with a 5.1. S&^% happens. Keep the faith!

I don't know what to do to please the voters anymore. Seems like some don't look at the title or the full picture. I'm so frustrated at this point.

Hang in there girl. You rock.

Thanks guys :D I think what I do need to do is not worry about entering pretty much every challenge, but concentrate on using the challenges to learn and only enter if I'm really happy with the shot.
That sound better? :)

Meanwhile...... my score SUCKS!!

Much better!!!

You know I played with my shots today. I edited and edited for a few hours. Got it down to two and then one. Then I just kept playing till I found the right mix and decided to just let it fly (pun not intended). I really thought mine would hit the gutter but just entered for fun. You really just never know, but this challenge especially was challenging in photo skills, in speed, in editing, and in choosing as I am sure many had a lot of great shots to choose from. Sometimes you pick the right one and sometimes you don't. I spent hours on my Motion Blur (believe it or not.lol.) and took at least 150 shots to get what I wanted and it wasn't a big hit. You just never know but as long as you learn and you like it that is what really matters I think.

Not a bad start considering:
1) No tripod
2) Kit Lens
3) Guesswork

How in the heck did you guys shoot fireworks with no tripod and are getting 6+ scores :-P
07/06/2006 01:13:59 AM · #42
Well heck! I used a tripod for sure. I never took firework shots until the day before yesterday and had to read on it before doing it. My remote sucks though. Not very sensitive for some reason so I need a cable release. I will look into that tomorrow but

wait.........I just got a fav again!! This is just incredible! Thank you fav person!

I have GOT to go to bed while the getten' is good. I'll be SO nervous to hit the update button in the morning though. *bites nails*

Been away for a bit.. figured there would be a fireworks challenge, so I entered. It's not a great one, but it was fun trying to get it. :) Especially since my city decided to do a 20 minute show this year and it wasn't anything spectacular. Guess I shouldn't complain though.. the excitement of going to see them is more fun than anything else. :)
